I did a F16 search for this to see if it was discussed back when it came out. Didn't find anything.

So I finally got around to seeing this movie for free on a SWA flight. I am increasingly impressed with Charlize Theron as an actress. She was quite convincing as Megyn Kelly.

The rest of the movie was a big meh. First, Roger Ailes, while impressive in what he built at Fox News, what a lecherous old d-bag who should have been jettisoned much earlier. Same for Bill O'Reilly. Second, the unfortunate reality is that no one "won" except for the lawyers who were litigating all this mess. Most of the women involved had their careers nosedive after all this came out. That said, most of them were so focused on success they got suckered into the ugly game they had to play. But it should not have happened to them, regardless.

All that out there, why hasn't there been the same movie made about Harvey Weinstein? I heard he was even worse.

You know why. Hollywood isn't the same as cable network news. Hollywood has always operated that way to one degree or another. It was called "the casting couch."

MeganKelly. Great lawyer? Not sure but she's a talk show gal. Hired for good looks. Ailes understood you can blab political crap and you can blab it and look good. All women wore knee hihh maybe slightly shorter skirts and heels. Sharp look.. made those women rich

Why did they do that? They wanted the jack.

Was he perverted? Not sure. But you don't get a seat at the table without looking great. He had to pass the inspection.

Its the cost of doing business. I don't believe he ever asked for nude pics or sleep with him to get a job or keep a job. Did he ask them to show their legs and see if they were tv worthy? Sounds like it

Charlize is a great actress liberal as he'll. But let herself go. Smokes a lot. Gorgeous face little avg on top up

Nicole Kidman os a great actress as well

Oreilley fantastic talk show host. But his time was up. Tucker is better
Greg gutfield has a spot and he's great.
Even though I don't care for humor.

I dont watch any news anymore. So no cluebwhats going on

But fox was much better when the hotties were on. Lot more conservative dress and it's blah.

Plenty of kvetching about hit jobs that goes on on this forum.

Her portrayal of Kelly really was amazing. I'm not sure I've ever seen an actor or actress pull off such a realistic, almost identical portrayal of a real world figure.

The other that comes to mind is Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill

Yes she is. She was utterly wasted in `Prometheus' -- -should have continued the character as a foil to Rapace.

I noticed she has re-appeared in the Dr.Strange movie.

Enjoyed the movie, but I wouldn't describe it as "about Fox News". A more accurate description would be "about Roger Ailes' use of power to obtain sexual favors from Fox News female employees"

Yes. I am watching a documentary on Marilyn Monroe. One of the execs said back in the 40s, it was all about sex (casting couch). This guy said every Director had a little black book that listed all of the women who were willing to do anything to get a part in a movie.

Liberal Hollywood taking on Fox News is so cliche that lots of folks on this board can't help but be reflexively dismissive of the movie, but what happened was clearly not OK and was a legitimate character study. As are the things that have happened at CNN.
