As a former US Missile Launch officer, DEFCON 1 means nukes are flying. I don't thing we're there yet as I'm still typing this.

I'd guess we're at DEFCON 3 or 4 right now.....likely 4 with Ukraine going on.

I thought a common misconception is that DEFCON 1 is actually the lowest readiness level, not the highest? You would know more than me I'm sure.

Either way, AC in the house just crapped out, so I'm at the highest DEFCON level regardless

DEFCON 1 can mean anything … when you have to go to the bathroom but you have plenty of time .. DEFCON 10 maybe

When you have to go to the bathroom and the turtles head is out and he's hanging on by the back flipper .. maybe DEFCON -1 … it ain't going back in at that point !

So Defcon has lots of meanings ..
