The Republican AG was just voted out of office by a very Republican legislature.

He struck and killed a pedestrian with his car and left the scene, reporting to authorities that he thought he had hit a deer or large animal. The pedestrian's glasses were found in his car. The man's head apparently smashed through the windshield.

He returned to the scene the next day.

His account shifted multiple times. He initially told investigators the pedestrian was in the middle of the road, however it was clear from evidence of pedestrian was actually well into the shoulder and the car had swerved into him. He denied using his phone while driving, but evidence showed he was on his phone near the time of the crash.

Two bad only one political party is remotely ethical enough to do this.

Aggies mocking TK when he came to campus 20 years ago

The criminal charges were based on a plea but also what could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

He was driving home from a social event where alcohol had been served. Not a huge reach to put 2 and 2 together. He could have stayed at the scene and been accused of SD's equivalent of DUI manslaughter or leave the scene and face what he's facing.

I remember seeing a bumper sticker on a pickup with a gun rack in the early 80's that said "Ted Kennedy has killed more people than my gun".

Republicans get rid of trash. Democrats promote them.

I live in SD and am acquainted with the former AG. He was not drinking at the event but he has a history of speeding and being tethered to his phone.

Speed limits here are already higher than most states and he was likely exceeding that. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to to see people walking on the side of the road, especially on reservations. This is sad story all around but the legislature did the right thing.
