When Texas' so-called "Heartbeat Law" went into effect last September, it obviously created a lot of headlines. I wanted to share this hopeful story (despite the lib journalist's attempt to spin it as "look at these dumb lolpoors lol") that's a direct result of that law.

https://www.mysanantonio.com/life/article/This-Texas-teen-wanted-an-abortion-She-now-has-17254146.php

Tl;dr: net result:
1. Two babies not murdered that absolutely would have been otherwise
2. A young woman finally realizing her true worth in life (as a mother)
3. A deadbeat skater who nutted up and married his girlfriend and then joined the military to support his family
4. An entire family has the chance to get out of generational poverty

It's an annoying but quite uplifting read. I encourage every person who reads this to say a prayer for these young people; try to identify people in their own lives who need a little advice or financial help to better themselves and make good decisions; support your local crisis pregnancy center (once they don't have to focus on abortion they can dedicate 100% of their resources to HELPING young families); and, despite all their faults, thank the TX Leg and Abbott for making this law a reality.

Great story. Thanks for posting. I have forwarded it to my contacts.

The crazy thing is this was originally a WaPo article meant to show how terrible the abortion law is. They thought by saying that the woman was going to miss out on her dreams of travel and the man was going to have to stop working on perfecting his skateboard tricks. The Dems all talk about how they are now dooming themselves to poverty. Of course the irony is the exact opposite is being shown to anyone with a brain.

Humans need a purpose or else they flounder. Very few parents are "ready" to be parents. Hell I was married 8 years, owned a home in a nice neighborhood, had savings and support, and a wonderful wife and I wasn't completely "ready". Parenting is the hardest and most frustrating job you can imagine but it is by far the most rewarding.

As I have gotten older I feel so sorry for this younger generation that has been pushed away from parenthood to pursue personal pleasure. As you get older you hit a point where you realize the personal stuff is just checking boxes. It's fun but it pales in comparison to the reward you feel in seeing your kids grow up and be successful. I can't imagine the day (hopefully not too soon) that I become a grandparent. Nothing compares to that feeling of joy and satisfaction and it only gets more apparent as I get older. I really can't imagine being 70 years old with no family, how sad that would be.

So many take God's greatest gift of having and raising children for granted or see it as a burden, I truly pity people like that and the joy they are willingly depriving themselves of.

This law and pending outlaw of abortion in Texas isn't going to work out how some of you think.

Nobody forced them to get pregnant. Why should I have to pay for their choice?

If the young man will even halfway apply himself in the Air Force, their trajectory has nowhere to go but up.

Who gives a crap that he can't do skateboard tricks. He may soon be working on advanced electronics, jet engine mechanics, or who knows what.

She has to put her Real Estate career on hold, sure. But those kids will be in school in another 6 years, and she can start again.

It would make me feel a lot better if we ensured proper nutrition, education, etc. to some of these children who will be born into neglectful family situations, but I guess I'll have to settle on a few one-offs that have their minds changed about kids.

Fair-ish point. But....When prolife groups can shift resources to that post-abortion reality I think you'll be shocked. Most are still in phase one: stop the slaughter.

Best thing Texas can do is have pro-family policies that encourage marriage and procreation. Oh and being a pro-business state where meatheads who have to grow up in a hurry can get good jobs to support their unplanned families.

By system, you mean parents having to raise their children? Somehow society has managed this for millennia, but we have convinced ourselves only a certain portion of our current population can pull it off?

Thanks for posting. I can honestly say that being a father is the most fulfilling and rewarding "work" and "play" that I have ever been involved with, and it's not even close. Those first months are definitely tough at times, but also awesome...and you definitely do feel a new level of self-worth that you may not have before having a child.

I wish everyone could be so lucky and blessed. Especially after having tried for years with no success. Crushes me and enrages me any time I see people treating precious unborn human life like it's inconvenient garbage, to be chopped up, sucked out, and discarded.

Maybe depending on a "system" is the problem.

For what it is worth, I am trying to contact the couple to offer assistance as well as get them in contact with a charity that can assist. This is my hometown, and we should care for our neighbors.

Wait, I think I see. You may be equating "doesn't politically support welfare expansion" with "doesn't care about mothers/families." I think that's an oversight in a heavily charitable and Christian state like Texas. Many liberals assume that everyone's as miserly as they are when it comes to giving of their time, talent, and treasure. Statistics show that's not the case.

What I'm saying is that the entire "crisis pregnancy center" structure that's grown up over the last 50 years won't just go away overnight. It will pivot. They will then be able to dedicate 100% of their resources to helping a brother out instead of just "please don't kill your child." They already do a LOT of this, but they'll be able to do so much more in the future. Also, adoptions will go way up so don't discount that effect on this "massive scary wave of lolpoors and their dirty children" all of a sudden descending upon your favorite state.

Look at the relevant statistics for children in red states…hardly a model or encouraging when forcing women to give birth to unwanted children.

Why should we do anything to encourage better behavior? After all, teenagers are going to fail.

Trust me, our side has always and continues to offer much more hard earned money, time, blood sweat and tears to helping new mothers, newborns and others like widows and orphans. At a vastly disproportionate rate.

Your side accuses us of the exact opposite though…we are evil and do nothing to help…meanwhile these knuckle dragging morons on your side try to burn down or vandalize places we have established to help guide pregnant mothers. Pure evil. You hold zero moral high ground (on any issue).

Pro Life folks I know tend to be the most generous and charitable to honest folks with families trying to make it. Certainly there is an alphabet soup of government assistance programs as well.

We need children as does every society. If it weren't for immigration the US would be losing population at a rate similar to other Western countries. A society filled with old people fails, young folks consume and build the future.

We don't have much real poverty in America, we just keep redefining it to maintain a poverty statistic. If you define poverty by people who can't get a roof over their head or food on their table it's extremely small. The problem is if you prioritize getting a new phone and big screen so the government can pay for everything else for you. The US has the richest poor people in the history of humanity.

The problem with our society is people not getting married, staying together, and working at a job. Do that and you are almost certain to avoid poverty even by US standards so long as you don't get into drugs or alcohol or crime. The amount of HIGHLY successful people in the US that came from nothing is staggering.

This couple will have a rough road starting out with 2 babies so young but they can make it, they just have to be willing to make sacrifices for their family and put them first. Also the odds are that his skateboarding career was not going to lead to a lot of long term happiness and my guess is that her dreams of travel and getting into real estate would have remained dreams. Children can force you to be disciplined and focus because you have a reason to do so that is greater than your own needs. I hope they stay on the path and make it!

Not sure why gays are so obsessed with abortion anyways. I guess it's just part of their leftist pagan religion that they must accept along with the other mandated beliefs and ideals. Truly pathetic.
