As worldwide gas prices reached record highs over the past month, many Americans are turning their frustration toward President Joe Biden and criticizing that he's contributed to the current price increase. However, he's not to blame for the gas price hike.

The Shorthorn Editorial Board believes multiple factors affect the gas price increase, such as crude oil prices, the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the Keystone XL pipeline. A U.S. presidential term especially one lasting only 14 months like Biden's so far hardly has much power to dictate gas prices.

The media can spin it however they want but Americans know this situation is squarely on Biden and his anti-business Democrat comrades in the Congress.

He started us down the path of economic destruction the day he was sworn in.

If he was a strong leader projecting power, Russia wouldn't have invade Russia for fear of reprisal.

If he was blatantly anti-O&G, O&G drillers wouldn't be worried about investing billions in drilling projects only to have them erased with the stroke of a pen.

Leftists are idiots if they cannot comprehend these two points.

The capital dried up in the oil industry as soon as the election was over. This administrations opposition to the oil and gas industry is 100% responsible for the levels of domestic production.

Biden presidency Day 1:

Kill the keystone pipeline, green light the Russian pipeline! Kill all new permits on federal land and threaten the banks not to fund O&G!

This is right. In a normal market response to high prices, you would see more oil production coming online. As they say, do you know what fixes high oil prices? High oil prices. Something is keeping that from happening though.

Day one that ******* reneged on the executive orders regarding energy independence that Trump put into office. The reason why it didn't impact right away was due to the fact that most companies were too far into their projects that it was feasible to pull out.

Implement Trump's executive order again and in 6 months we will be fine again.

It cracks me up when they say, "See we are approving permits but the oil companies are not drilling!!!!!"

No **** Sherlock. No company is going to operate at a negative due to the new emissions and other bull**** your Greenie Marxists implemented. It is almost like none of these politicians have ever run a business or been a part of the business process.

It should be a requirement that if you want to run for government, you need to work in industry/private sector first.

Not going to click on something called 'shorthorn' but geriatric poopy pants' plan (his handlers) is insane.

Also, I read this am that they are also indicating another illegal year without federal oil/gas lease auctions.

Great job, team CCP (that includes any independent voters who went for a liberarian etc)!

One of the reasons I want President Trump to run and not get cheated out of the presidency this time is to see the warp speed at which he turns our economy around and listen to left lose their minds trying to spin the immediate change.

1. Tell me you're on Russia's side without telling me you're on Russia's side.

2. Your second line has me scratching my head. Did you mean to say if he WASN'T blatantly anti-O&G?

You missed the BEST part. Did you know that crude oil prices impact gas prices? You see, Mr. Biden is not responsible for gas price increase. No no no. Crude oil prices can cause gas prices to increase. And it's still up for debate why crude oil prices are up.

Nah, you'd need some sort of "magic wand" to do that, kinda like Hussein said about manufacturing jobs.
