"According to court documents and statements, beginning in 2008, Petrone-Codrington worked at the Yale University School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine. She most recently served as the director of finance and administration."

Reminds me of a local guy who got caught ordering gift baskets, appliances, and furniture from Office Depot on his company card. He would sell the gift baskets in his wife's store in town and then started selling the other stuff or making a kick ass backyard. It's an interesting story and one that should cause Yale to evaluate all internal fiscal controls on every department.

She was authorized to order and approve purchases up to $10k without next level approval.

She would have the equipment sent to an offsite, out-of-state store that would sell it and send the funds to an account.

Crundwell type of fraud. Yale should be seriously embarrassed by this.

Depends on the budget. If it's a several hundred million budget, 5 mill wouldn't be noticed or questioned. Especially if it was within the equipment line item. Got to buy the equipment if it's in the budget.

I would imagine that she's in some way relieved. Could you imagine stealing any amount of money, let alone $40mil? Just knowing they gonna get your ass eventually. It's like Maddof...he had to know it would eventually come tumbling down.

In the article she appears white in her wedding photos, her vacation and bragging photos se appears black. Is this some sort of reverse Michael Jackson thing?
Also, she may have stolen $40MM but I'd bet she only netted around $10MM not that it isn't a lot of money, but I doubt her or her husband have anywhere near the means to return the $30+MM difference. Hopefully they can get some of it from her partner.

It's possible, hear me out, that the white students at the premier med schools are there because they had the top test scores and grades - not because they're libs.

I tend to gloss over your contributions too unless they lend themselves to levity. Where exactly in the med school rankings do the future Doctors become acceptable to you? Somewhere around mediocre to having to attend a school in the Caribbean? Does the animosity extend to residencies?

I don't think you would even gain admission to Yale med school unless you are a leftist or a really talented liar (assuming there is a distinction between the two)
