Ovechkin is friends with Putin. And the media is crucifying him because he simply stated he wants PEACE without offering a firm criticism of Russia.

This is Japanese internment camp level type intimidation. Dominik Hasek, of Czech Republic, suggested NHL should suspend all Russian players immediately. What good would this do? So stupid... all of it.

Seems this article is about his peers being critical of him and providing some historical context for defection. Wouldn't say "the media" is crucifying him.

We certainly are fortunate that the world didn't turn on us like this when we invaded Iraq.

I'm sure Ovechkin is heavily involved in Russian foreign policy. Probably should investigate some ice dancers and gymnasts as well. What has Olga Korbut been up to recently?

I know. I guess I didn't imply enough sarcasm in my post.

We went to the UN and laid out a case. Many nations joined us.

It turned out to be an incredibly stupid war in hindsight, but at the time there was quite a bit of manufactured consent.

I, personally, do not consent to any non-defensive war. Or wars to 'disarm' our adversaries.

Not being suckered again. Questioning EVERYTHING..... whether it's from the lips of a Bush, Obama, Trump, or the current illegitimate invalid.

Iraq was a bit of a different story. Saddam had invaded Kuwait and gassed the Kurds. He and his regime were also known to murder and torture people just because.

Iraq was a ****hole run by a guy with few friends who liked to talk a big game. The world doesn't stick its neck out for ***holes.
