Stinger came from General Dynamics which was the largest defense contractor in the US in the Cold War. They gave use so many great products - Stinger, M1 tanks, F-16, standard missile, Phalanx, nuclear subs, etc. Raytheon bought the missile division.

Raytheon makes the Saber system also.

Javelin was a joint venture between Raytheon (then TI, if memory serves) and Martin Marietta.

Before some genius comes in here and points to TI still being a company, it was the defense electronics portion of TI that was acquired by Raytheon in the mid 90s, around the same time they also took on Hughes and E-Systems.

They also bought Hughes Aerospace back in the day. That's where they got the Tucson campus, where missile systems is headquartered, and El Segundo, where they do a lot of space stuff.

Maverick

The missile that lofts then strikes from above. Like small man portable missiles discussed today, but with a 300lb warhead. The missile that made the A-10 famous, not the social media campaign

And we picked up a nice campus in Santa Barbara (Goleta) from Hughes too. Pre-Covid it was the off-site boondoggle location of choice for us.

Dam, that's a lot of super high fire power ..

can you imagine if all of this fire power was used against the Russian forces? We would be at Moscow's door steps and in Putin's front door in a few days …. That equipment he has been rolling out in the Ukraine would be melted piles of rubble

On-going most likely. From the '40's I would suspect.

Battelle is another company involved.

One of the coolest ones is the upgraded Standard Missile. Super badass. Cruiser-launched and capable of anti-satellite and anti-ballistic missile intercepts.
