A 100% attack ad, no references, on Guzman. Accuses her of promoting CRT, mandating apps pushing inherent racism, etc.
A smear launched so close to the primary, no time for rebuttal. A page from the Sessions playbook.
Paxton must be trying to pare down the runoff choices. The ad is truly despicable.

GP Bush is attacking her too. Saw an ad a couple hours ago claiming she was against the border wall and something else I cant remember.

And the ads are lies about her positions. I've already voted for her in early voting, but these ads would definitely drive me to her team.

From my perspective, Paxton has been throwing hail Marys that sometimes connect, although his o-line (Abbott) has been weak. Sometimes he throws a pass that leaves you thinking wtf, but with a good oline, he could be deadly.the rest are unproven quarterbacks who may be better, but we all like the next quarterback. my take

Paxton- Kyler Murray. Cares about sponsorship deals and media attention over actually winning football games. Horrible personality and no character but somehow has fans.

Guzman- Jimmy Garoppolo. Shows flashes of talent but not quite elite (though could be eventually?)

Bush- Matthew Stafford. Elite talent but perpetually underrated/ignored because of historical perceptions outside his control

You left out Gohmert but this is solid.

I am actually still undecided on who to vote for. Bush's "attack ads" on Guzman says she is against the wall. I never take the attack ads for face value so I went to her site. She references nothing about her stance on the wall. I find that odd to me with that being such a big issue for an AG in Texas.

So, who should get my vote?
- an incumbent
- Guzman that I do not see a stance on the wall?
- Mr. Nubotism
- the other guy

This is an honest question because I feel this is the most important political position in Texas.

So she didn't organize a summit that proposed mandatory racial bias training for anyone in criminal justice and the development of an app to recognize racial bias in children?

I don't understand why this is a problem if she did support this kind of training. It's true that there is bias in the criminal justice system. Acknowledging that doesn't mean you are espousing CRT beliefs, which is a completely different ideology. There are aspects of awareness training that are actually helpful in professional environments.

If you only saw the ads to determine your vote, you'd assume that Guzman is a leftist radical.... and lots of voters allow that type of **** to tickle their ears.

Yep. In Bush's latest ad he acts like a fan of Trump, by mentioning Trump and continuing to build "Trumps wall". He and his family are Rhinos and have been some of the biggest critics of Trump

No, espousing that means that you believe that not only does racism exist, but that it is actually systemic within our society. Systemic racism, of course, being the absolute backbone of modern leftist idealogy.

Sure quacks like a duck.

If they were (and they're not), Paxton would not have waited until there was no time for any media fact-checking, or rebuttal by the accused. Slimy politician MO 101.

There is zero evidence to be found about any children's app, or any CRT training. Guzman did facilitate a seminar on detecting bias in the judicial system ( a real thing), but in no form did it imply indoctrination was needed, due to CRT-style inherent racism claims.

I saw the ad and almost had water come out my nose when the kid opened the app and it just displayed "YOU ARE RACIST". Not sure if the ad was supposed to be comedic but that was hilarious.

Acknowledging that doesn't mean you are espousing CRT beliefs, which is a completely different ideology. There are aspects of awareness training that are actually helpful in professional environments.

Let's take a look at what was actually taught or said at the summit itself:

(link: Beyond the Bench: Law, Justice, and Communities Summit

Quote:

  • Every institution is required to have a racial and bias audit that is public for accountability.

Quote:

  • Judges should ask criminal defendants about their background, and also collect data on race to evaluate their performance.
  • Make an effort to have more diversity on grand juries. This is where bias in the felony criminal justice system can really affect what happens on down the line.
  • Educate all members of the criminal justice system about the various roles others have, to create a more unified system that can help with all aspects of need and individuals.

Quote:

  • Training my staff on bias and how it is impacting them and their work.
  • Annual sensitivity training for all staff members.
  • Recreate a discussion using the "Deconstructing Our Decision-Making" format to address agencyspecific bias issues. This will encourage discussion amongst different staff levels.
  • Have all institutions go through cultural competency training.

There is more and I encourage everyone to read it to get the facts and ignore the rhetoric. Obviously (my opinion) not everything in there is objectionable. However, (again, my opinion) I don't think its unreasonable -- given the examples I posted here -- that one can call at least some of this a CRT-TYPE of training. Maybe it isn't full blown CRT, especially if the trainer is you or I. But put it in the hands of certain people and who knows where it will go.

We don't always have control of who will be doing the training. Once something is implemented it isn't going away.

The Chad Hasty Show here in Lubbock had Paxton and then Guzman for short interviews on Friday. I missed the Paxton part, but Guzman spent most of her time talking about Paxton's ad. I did not listen to all of her interview, but enough to get tired of her talking about the ad and Paxton. I am sure she eventually got around to some of her positions, but not while I was listening.
