As a student of the Manhattan Project, I can tell you that lots of the MP scientists were Jews who fled Germany, and were working on the Atom Bomb to use against Germany, and because we thought Germany was developing the weapon.
They were obviously thrilled when the war ended in Europe, and many were shocked that the program continued. Several were opposed to using the Bomb in the Pacific Theater.
But. of course, we had spent billions on the project, and the Japanese were not going to surrender, as had the Germans, so off to Tinian Island the bombs went.
