I don't know whose arm you're talking about, but .223 rounds are meant to explode like a tactical nuke and also release mustard gas.

It's pretty amazing what a small piece of metal traveling several times the speed of sound can do.

Good thing for the rioter….errr protestors that Rittenhouse didn't have a chainsaw bayonet attachment on his assault rifle AK-15 weapon of war/mass destruction. He would have slaughtered that whole town.

Apparently the bicep and a few other muscles do that when pierced.

Binger did say that Kyle was using special armor piercing rounds called "full metal jacket". He made it sound much scarier than "normal" bullets.

That bullet starts slowing down due to the increased fiction inside a body. That energy has to be conserved, physics says so. That energy is all absorbed by the body and it absolutely destroys whatever is in. Also, I remember reading somewhere that 55gr FMJ 556 can shatter in the right conditions. It has to do with the deceleration and the stress created by paying through a media of a particular density at a certain velocity.

Think of it in terms of MaxQ and throttling a rocket back to reduce aerodynamic loads. A bullet experiences similar in the far thicker/ more viscous body.

I've seen a doe shot with a 556 with 2 clear exit wounds when the bullet shattered inside her. Her ribcage contained everything, but it was just goo when we cleaned her.

At that range, just think if it was FJB's double barrel full of buckshot. Dude would have a nub.

The high velocity bullet can also travel along bones once it starts tumbling. So if you get hit in the femur it could exit the knee. Nasty stuff!

Pretty sure a large chunk of that tissue damage was due to burning gasses tearing through the tissue.
