Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

If you are in the oil bidness it is too cheap.

And if you're in the driving business it's way too expensive now. Guess which one I care about more?

It's not like oil companies were dropping like flies last year.

Artificially COVID induced, just like every industry. Gas prices were in the low $2s before COVID. I see that more as an indication of temporary demand issues than pricing issues. And yes, I know demand impacts prices.

Sorry your 401k took a hit and your bonus was smaller.

Oil in the $65/barrel range is perfect for Texas. Oil companies make money hand over fist (which is good for Aggie Football) and gas it at a price where consumers don't feel pinched at the pump and forced to cut back elsewhere. Below $50 is a bad price with very little profit and above $80 and consumers are squeezed and there's a ripple effect throughout economy.
The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.

Get your vaccine and Prices will come down…

… even though we didn't even have a vaccine a year ago and were 9-10 months into the pandemic a year ago.

My grandfather spent his entire life in the oil industry, working on rigs around the world and had his own natural gas company in Kentucky, so I always valued his opinion and insight on global oil politics. Before he passed in 2015, he told me that $72-$75pbbl was the "sweet spot" for American consumers and oil companies, and everyone could "get along" in that price range.
