The teenage boy also told 911 dispatchers that his parents had not lived in the apartment with him and his two living siblings for several months.

The eldest child appeared to have been the caretaker of the other kids for an extended period of time.

One of the older ladies living close by said you could smell something bad in the air near that unit all the time, but as soon as investigators opened the door she could tell it wasn't good. Made it sound like they had been living with the corpse in their unit for months, with no parents. 15 year-old left to fend for himself and his siblings.

So a 9 year old dead, she literally abandoned her kids to rot, and she is being released after some questioning? No charges pressed? Shouldn't charges be pressed for leaving your f-ing kids for months, not to mention the dead child?!

Someone help me make sense of this? The only answer I can come up with is the same one I have after every catch and release murder we rack up in this city...DEMOCRATS are running things and turning yet another major city into a completely backwards sh*thole.

You can't arrest someone in Texas without a warrant or without an exception to that rule. IF the release was based on that, then its legit. Doesn't mean charges won't be filed but if she flees, who knows what will happen. She'll likely be picked up, however.

With all that said, aside from the rotting body inside, how can the apartment complex not know? Who paid the rent? If utilities weren't paid, why wasn't there some level of inspections going on?

I don't have any clue what those kids went through. You have to wonder what kind of "upbringing" they had for it to take the better part of a year for the 15-year-old to finally break down and call 911 to get help. Also, even if you lock the door to an apartment with a deadbolt, given a year, most people could probably manage to get out.

From the article, it sounded to me that THEY LIVED WITH THE DETERIORATING CORPSE OF THEIR BROTHER IN PLAIN SIGHT.

I wonder if CPS had been involved in the past and dropped the ball. Like maybe the mother was released because she didn't actually have custody of the children.

In the comments section to the news story, the default response for several libs was to pivot to the "if only these kids had been aborted" debate. Arguing that they would clearly be better off dead. So wouldn't the humane thing be to just kill them now? Legality aside, that's what leftists think the humane thing would be right? Kill any child who is living in extreme poverty or in a dire situation?
