A&M ranks 6th in the SEC in regards to student free speech and open inquiry. This is disappointing. As you might suspect, administration support of free speech is rated very poorly.
Also as you might suspect, A&M beats the hell out of tu in protecting and valuing freedom of expression.

80% of students say it is never acceptable to use violent protest to stop a speech on campus.

That's actually pretty good considering at some schools, 80% or more would approve of violence.

20% of the population is the hardcore Democrat base such as Antifa, BLM, etc. Locally this would be the SDS and their buddies.

Remember when Spencer spoke at Rudder? Almost all of the violent protestors were bussed in from out of town. Most of the student protestors were not violent. Heck, the vast majority of students didn't give a rat's ass about Spencer. They had better things to do than protest an idiot.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

You want violent protests against free speech? Or you're embarrassed 20% of our students are commies?

That 20% of our students feel like violence is an appropriate response.

Interesting. I have no doubt that it's people on the left saying free speech isn't really a thing at A&M, but I'd argue it's the other way around. I can only imagine how the left, including administration, would respond if some of the displays the YCT did back when I was in school were done today. I don't think the left has any problem speaking on campus. But I'm pretty certain they'd shout down any opposing views.

Bingo. Try a demonstration in support of illegal alien deportation or AA Bake Sale today and you'd be lucky to leave with your life, much less a degree.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

Go read the student comments on the A&M ranking. A lot of the complaints were that the student body was too conservative, and they did not like that, and they felt there liberal opinions were shut down. Students were favorable talking about guns. Oh my!

A lot better than UNT, apparently.

Antifa protesters disrupted a pro-life candlelight prayer vigil Monday night on the campus of the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton.

I feel like A&M ranking is misrepresented at the beginning of this thread.

For those who don't want to open this and look in detail, A&M received the highest rating which is "Green" related to its 1st Amendment standards.

SEC schools:
Green: Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M
Yellow: Vanderbilt, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina
Red: LSU

Texas schools:
Green: Texas A&M (only school in Texas rated this high)
Yellow: SMU, Texas Tech, Texas at Austin
Red: Texas at Dallas, Rice
Warning (below Red): Baylor

Big 12 note:
only school rated green was Kansas St.
