Fantastic thread on what's at stake right now and how insane it is that it's being brushed off.

NB: when he says "liberalism" he's not talking about our liberal/conservative paradigm. He's talking about liberalism the political philosophy from which our national government was derived.

Ironic they say "democracy dies in darkness" while their article openly says "expect less"

"Everything is broken everywhere" is a phrase everyone is going to need to get used to as it will be the norm. I agree that the Supply Chains are going to be broken for years if that's all. We're probably going to be in some sort of Cold War with China shortly if in fact we're not there right now.

Until U.S businesses feel confident that China is not going to pop back in and steal their marketshare, they're not going to invest the billions and billions of dollars across the economy necessary to replace China as a source. Even if they do, so much of what even goes into manufacturing products in the U.S is dependent on vendors who, guess what, get stuff from China.

Saudi Arabia maintains a sort of peace within the country by paying off the militant jihadists not to blow stuff up, the minute they stop dishing out money the entire system descends into chaos.

We're the same, except rather than with money, we're dishing out entertainment, product, and high fructose corn syrup to pacify the masses. The system that provides us with soma is on the verge of collapsing. People don't realize how goods get to market, groceries get into stores, and food gets into restaurants. They're about to find out.
