Given the Texas Army National Guard can be federalized by DC tyrannists, couldn't Abbott direct Texas State Guard to defend the border? It is supposedly not an armed component of the Texas Military Forces, but wondering if Gov is authorized to change that and start the push back on DC.

He could make them an emergency reserve component of the Department of Public Safety instead of the "military forces".

It's strange people think the NG being there matters, guess it looks good politically though.

Upon graduation from TAMU as a D&C Cadet, I was offered a commission in the Texas State Guard.

I declined.

Not sure what if anything they can be compelled to do.

Would like to hear from one.

Can Texas start its own Draft?

Protect our border for a year and get a free year of community college.

If Abbott would lead on this many Texans would follow to protect our state from the invasion. Dare DC to intervene.

The younger son of one of my nephews is in the Army National Guard. He joined as a junior in high school.

He's also in the Corps of Cadets at A&M, but is taking this semester off so he can take the Sapper Leader Course.

The Texas National Guard should ignore orders from our illegitimate president.

The more important thing is what would they be authorized to do?

The Texas State Guard is just above the Salvation Army in regards to military training and effectiveness.

I was in TSG while in the band around 2003ish

my understanding it was more for natural disasters in the state.

I was all onboard because we were promised $1,000 per semester. when it never materialized I quit

A year of community College is pretty cheap
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

If I were looking at someone's resume, I'd give a much higher value to the year served in TSG than lonestar college.

Republican Governors for decades in Texas and it's all been the same. They keep coming across.

Both parties are ok with it.

If there was actual will to stop it it could easily happen.
The will is not there.

Free delivery of babies - then automatic citizenship
Free healthcare
Free school K-12 and in state tuition but also subsidized
Free food In school and family assistance
Actual money from government programs

These are not things a country offers if they were really serious about stopping the migration.

I'd take a few weeks of vacation to serve in the TSG at the border. Would they teach me to fire one of those assault weapons that I hear so much about?

The National Guard is for enforcing federal tyranny on citizens.

There was a guy where I used to work that was in the TSG. He was high up in our org, but most people could never figure out what he did. That was about 15 years ago. I googled him recently and found out he was Major General of the TSG, and similarly I can't quite figure out what TSG does either.

I am sure he was paid well to be a MG on a part time basis though.

TSG is unpaid unless activated by the governor or certain training days. I don't think the command gets paid since it isn't a full time job. Biggest monetary "benefit" is free LTC and hunting/fishing licenses. They're typically activated for natural disasters.

Lots of ranks are "honorary" for folks who never had a day of actual military service, many others are folks who retired from the actual military and joined the TSG retaining their ranks. One example of this is the band directors at A&M. Many never served in the military. They hold an honorary "commission" in the TSG. Col. Brewer was one.
