I'm sure this has likely been posted here but just wanted to bring awareness especially to those in the district.

So there are two books by the name of Lawn Boy. One is written by Gary Paulsen and is aimed at 4th graders and is entirely appropriate. The other is this book that by Jonathan Evison and is clearly adult in nature. They ordered the wrong book and put it in the library.

Hatchet is a great book

If this is true, sounds like a hilarious error

They claimed they ordered the "wrong" book and then were notified if the contents repeatedly and did nothing across the district for weeks afterwards.

Inept, or worse.

Jesus... I looked it up and found out was written by Gary Paulsen and was shocked that the "Hatchet" author would actually put that into a kid's book. Thanks for the clarification!

it wasnt just two books, or one wrong book in a library. This has been a months long battle between parents and the district, to clean up the reading list for students.

Some of the books had extremely graphic sexual content, and served no purpose in an educational environment. One of the books described the difference between the insertion of toys versus genitalia. Why would you suggest a 16 year old read that, while we ban books like To Kill a Mockingbird or Huckleberry Finn?

I am not in that district, and have no dog in the fight...but have watched this fight from afar, because I know several parents who do have kids there. I was honestly surprised that the district resisted to the extent they did. I would have thought they'd have apologized and removed those books, after being made aware of the content.

We had our first Drag Queen Story Hour in Leander a year or two ago, so the progressive Cali transplants are taking over. Our conservative mayor was also replaced by a lib with no qualifications to her name, so I'm going to say Leander is lost at this point. The rest of Williamson County is next

These arrogant people can never admit to you plebes that they made a mistake. They'd rather fight tooth and nail to wrest all control from you, the parents.

My sister is on some parent committee/group where they read all of the books that are for 9th graders in Leander ISD. She has told me some ridiculous stories about what she read in books where the other parents didn't even notice it until she read some insane sentences to them from the books. I don't have any examples handy, but very graphic and very sexual in nature, talking about blowjobs, etc. One of the books was written at a 3rd grade reading level and was meant to give you a sense for what its like to grow up in the hood from a black person's perspective, but it talks all about drugs and sex, etc.

All school board members elected past November there are CRT pushing crazies. High School PTO Pres sending dicks, threats, and all sorts of immature **** to the parents complaining about these ridiculous books. Lots of videos and stuff out there.

Had family in the district. They moved because of this *****

I'm going to say something incendiary but true. What percentage of high school teachers in the Leander ISD are women? Our society is collapsing because women think that their liberation lies in being libertine rather than in being virtuous. Once married, men permit their wives to force them into allowing conduct from their daughters that is clearly more appropriate for a prostitute than for a women who respects herself and who understands her dignity.

This is the natural end of the "liberation" movement. Not the freedom to act as one ought but rather the surrender to baseness. Women successfully emasculated maleness in the West and now preside over the poisoning of children--that is, the children they don't murder in the womb. Whereas, in the past, good, strong men would have risen up and put an end to this, the system now will crush them if they stand against evil.

That kid does not look like a 4th grader...or even an elementary student. Was this at a HS?

Why would high schools want a book aimed at 4th graders?

I didn't realize this at the time. When transitioning from 5th to 6th grade, as part of their required summer reading my kids read a book, about a gay couple, and had quite a few explicit sex themes. Forget the name...

There is no doubt in my mind that the sicko libs who run AISD made them read this book, because they love nothing more than to sexualize young kids.

This summers reading was Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich who is an American author and political activist who describes herself as "a myth buster by trade" and has been called "a veteran muckraker" by The New Yorker. During the 1980s and early 1990s she was a prominent figure in the Democratic Socialists of America.

The school btw, has removed all American flags, and only one teacher has put it back up.
The english teacher ( who also said they will not be reading any of the classics) does have a United Farm Workers flag in her class though.

It would not surprise me if they're deliberately pushing degeneracy on children and lying about it. It may not be the case here, but look at the other things they're teaching across America. These people are evil.

There was a big kerfuffle in the early 80's at my jr high about a book we were required to read that talked about a boy and girl sleeping together and then committing suicide bc they loved each other but their parents wouldn't allow it. Parents freaked out and were worried that it would incite jr high kids to get hot and bothered. Glad I made it through those times

Which has nothing to do with the topic at hand
Seriously, why can't libs stop sexualizing kids?

Though it does explain why so many voted for a Pedo for President.

I'd favor this book and author being taught to today's children.

Not sure. I'll let u know if I talk to any 'libs'. That one author, Bill Shake(something) definitely sexualized those poor kids. But you had to understand his literary subtlety.

If by liberal you mean I don't fluff Trump and don't agree with every right wing nut job…then yes. Though technically I've voted Republican down ticket in every election except one. Not a fan of Biden…but it's hilarious how Trump supporters use the pedo moniker to describe Biden when Trump had built up mileage on Epstein Airlines

Ah the debunked Epstein lie. Good one.

Way to avoid the topic at hand and make excuses for it. This is like racism. If you aren't vigorously defending it, then you are for it, right? The difference here is that kids can't defend themselves. We place trust in teachers and schools not to do this kind of crap. I'm surprised anyone would try to defend it, but here we are.
