TLDR: China only allowing 1 hour a day of video games on Friday - Sunday and on public holidays. Trying to help stop video game addiction

If we can "mandate" an experimental therapeutic shot, why not do this here? Get the fatties who are most vulnerable to the vid up off the couch

How are they going to enforce this? Why do they think the kids are addicted to video games? What do they think kids will replace them with? What will be the impacts of this several years down the road?

Agree. Lets mandate exercise too. We can mandate that the grocery store weigh people who come in and limit what types of food they can buy; the scanner would deny the purchase and force them to take it back. Doing this would cut down on healthcare cost in this country considerably. I should not have to pay more in premiums because of fatties and those who do not exercise.

when your health has become state interest, they feel justified in controlling everything about you

I do have kids and I can barely keep a handle on most of their stuff despite trying hard. We play video games for fun but we also shut it off and get work done and go outside. My kids have other escapes away from video games but they need an escape to recharge. We all do. Video games will get replaced with drugs alcohol and pornography.

In my experience when you put a limit on something like this, when that kid gets a taste of freedom they are going to OD on the thing that was limited and it may mess them up even more.

Saw this a lot in college where a repressed kid would finally escape their over-bearing parents only to go way over-board. Then it'd effect their school performance and their future.

Best way to limit an activity in my opinion is to not put a hard cap on it, but make sure the kid is busy. If the kid has enough other activities they won't have a bunch of free time to spend countless hours being unproductive and still keep a hobby they enjoy.

Setting a hard limit is easy. Getting your kid to do outside activities is hard and time-consuming as a parent.

A little bit of porn is good.

Just like everything in life. Balance. Ying/yang.

I haven't played three hours of video games in my entire, combined 43 years on this earth.

When I was in college we drank beer and partied with broads, but I guess Mario Brothers is cool too.

Me thinks you are much older than 43.

Guess it depends on which iteration. I'm that age and we loved mario kart 64 in college

I never was never in to video games (I'm and old - turned 74 today), but I have to admit I am addicted to texags. I do think that a lot of younger folks today are also addicted to their cell phones and IMO it is reducing social interactions. Our 22 year old grandson rarely actually TALKS on his cell phone - he (and his friends, etc) just text. Crazy.

I'm of the mindset that instead of banning video games, use them instead to teach. The navy back in 2017 replaced a $38,000 controller for controlling periscopes in submarines with a $20 Xbox controller. It went from hours it took to learn the old controller to 10 minutes.

That's a real world application where we are letting video games train people. As the VR stuff continues to develop, there will be more opportunities like this. Imagine being able to train mechanics about cars by slapping on a vr headset and being able to see an exploded view of any specific model? Same thing with installation training.

Curious how this will affect the professional DOTA 2 Chinese teams. DOTA 2 is big time in China, and the pro teams over there are as popular as our pro teams in major sports here in the US. 5 Chinese DOTA 2 teams are competing in October in The International, a $40 Million tournament.

I am guessing these pro DOTA 2 teams will be granted an exception.

Back when I was a kid, my parents would make me clean my plate at dinner by telling me about all the starving Chinese that would love to have my food.

Now we can blame the Chinese again when unplugging the video games.

This makes WAY more sense and would be WAY better for peoples' health than mandating a shot.

Let's do it! We need to also ban a lot of sweets and pressure corporations to fire people with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

We can ban all sugary drinks, particularly if paid for by EBT. The government is only interested in our health, after all!

Goodness me

If that ever happened here, it would kill the careers of so many who make a living livestreaming videogames.
Especially those on youtube with millions of followers who play Minecraft for a living

Here's my theory on this. People are now able to play games and earn cryptocurrency. Games like Axie Infinity, and even COD now have association with crypto. China is in the middle of a huge crypto crackdown because it undermines their control. Heaven forbid their citizens have an opportunity to better themselves through something the government doesn't control.

They would be better off imbedding political officers on video game developers' teams. Better for the CCP to bring up kids fighting imperial capitalistic pigs than have millions of kids interacting with actual their actual Maoist Marxist world.

You do realize that IG, Facebook and Twitter are tracking everything posted and are actively censoring unfavorable (to them and their political agenda) content.

Gold star Mom just got kicked to the facebook curb.

This is happening right here. Right now. In this country. More censorship will come.

It will continue until either the parallel economy and internet is developed and forces them to abandon censorship in order to compete OR it will end with other more violent means.
