Does a school district have any obligation to follow the county mandate?

Hypothetical ignoring the governor issue. Just an academic question.

From the Comal ISD superintendent:

Late Tuesday, the Bexar County Health Authority mandated the wearing of face masks while indoors at public schools located in Bexar County. Our position on this issue, as it was last year, is that all Comal ISD schools will operate under the same standards, regardless of the county in which they are located. As such, the wearing of face coverings, while encouraged, will be optional in all of our schools including Bexar County.

I would say if a county can ignore the state then an ISD can ignore the county. Dems are completely lawless now and do what they want.

As you are aware, the City of Austin and Travis County have issued a joint mask order under Ch. 418 of the Texas Government Code. As Gov. Abbott's order GA-38 suspends those provisions under Ch. 418, we have received legal guidance that the order may be without authority. At this time, Pflugerville ISD will not mandate masks, but we will highly encourage them, along with vaccinations, to curb this pandemic and protect our staff and students.

So far, Pflugerville is also going with the Governor.

I'm not sure where all the legality lies, but I'm glad we're on this side of it for now.

Yes, but state trumps county.

Any county judge issuing something that defies the state is going to get hammered. The Gov went after harris county today.

School board members aren't paid.
Well the Senior Administrators are. If they can't cut/stop their pay then the State should take over the school district on the grounds of flagrant law breaking and endangering the children.

    Today, Harris County issued an order related to masks and other COVID-19 related directives.

To find the answer you take an unconstitutional directive given by a fascist to the extreme.

If Clay Jenkins orders every school to lock every student up in a closet whose parents voted for, or potentially voted for, Trump, would the school district have to comply? No, of course not.

While our local health department and governments have not issued any orders that need defying, for the sake of discussion both Bryan and College Station ISDs are staying mask optional.

Cy Fair ISD's updated plan was mask optional. That was released Monday prior to this latest dictate from Hidalgo.

I don't see them reversing course this late in the game.
CNN is the enemy of the state and should be treated as such.
