I would be willing to entertain restricting voting based upon who pays income tax instead of citizenship.

In the psychology world this is called "conditioning"

NY times puts the word out. Half the country believes it. Social media (private company) monopolies enforce it.

Everyone wants a click bait title rather than one that makes it clear what the post is about. Two examples right here.

They are the mouthpiece for the system

When they print something, expect all the social media (private company) monopolies will enforce it

Absolutely. Removes a huge conflict of interest -- voting for sleazy politicians who promise you goodies when you yourself don't pay much (if any) in taxes. On the other hand, people who pay taxes on their earned wages can't be bought with their own money.

Democracy is doomed when the electorate figures out they can use the vote to loot the public Treasury.

I am waiting for my absentee ballots from Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, and Honduras.

I am not a citizen and don't know squat about their politics, but there is no reason I shouldn't be able to vote in their elections.

Edit to add: Since I don't speak Spanish, the national language of these countries, I demand that the ballots to be printed in English.

By similar logic, the is no good reason people who don't live in your house, shouldn't get to vote on where you set your thermostat.

Welcome to 1984. Big Brother has been conditioning you with pablum for quite some time.

The conditioning is being ramped up and the battles of teaching capitalism is bad and communism is good is being won in our school systems. It's not good what is coming.

This is what I do not understand. Communism has shown to be a bad idea everywhere it has been put in place. It just makes a few in a political class wealthy and powerful at the expense of the masses.

Capitalism has continually created wealth and opportunities for everyone. Only in a free open society with a capitalistic economy have significant numbers of people of all backgrounds been able to go from being very poor to comfortable to very successful.

In my lifetime, the more we have become socialistic the greater the gap between those who are wealthy and those who are poor.

It doesn't take much study of history and economics to see this fact.

How have so many in education and media been duped into wanting a socioeconomic system that always loses and makes life worse for most people?

As a nation are we really that stupid?

Look at the worst case in capitalism in the worst-case in communism that usually ends the argument

Its why on one level all this disruption of school perhaps should be treated as an opportunity. Other than the mainstream media, there is no institution needing more dismantling then the education curriculum. Once kids learn English and the basics, the less time being indoctrinated the better. There is probably a way to simulate the socialization part that has been the greatest loss.

Don't jump on me as being a crazy liberal but a) citizenship is a modern construct and in the US really didn't exist the way we think of it now until the passage of the fourteenth amendment b) at the birth of our nation non-citizen residents were permitted to vote.

I would be okay with permanent residents voting so long as they had taken a loyalty oath, subjected to all taxes, renounced foreign allegiances, etc.

Yes, since there seems to be the thing to do I guess we just all need to select whichever countries we want to go in and vote in.

Dibs on Russia and North Korea!
