Some in our family got this back last year and experienced a rapid recovery. I've never caught the covids myself.

A lot of were tip toeing treatment around political affiliation or were blinded by their own. Sad.

There have been lots of trials. The bigger the trial, the better controlled, the weaker the evidence. Even so there are 4-5 very large randomized trials going on right now investigating it. There's no strong evidence it works, but it might. We'll see.

This is the same argument used for HCQ all over again, but we know now through large randomized controlled trials that it doesn't work. When you have a disease that the vast majority of people will recover from anyway, anything you give as treatment is going to look like it works. Placebo effect is real and can be strong.

If you read the article I posted above, you'll see the efficacy of Ivermectin is corraborated by more than a single study.

Not all studies are created equally. Observational studies and open labels don't carry the same weight as randomized controlled trials. When people do analysis on the publications out there, there is a signal for publication bias - better, larger studies show worse results than smaller ones.

There are large trials going on now, one of them at Oxford. Those will tell the tale. But right now there isn't solid evidence.

The base death rate for covid is already really really low. So the signal you're looking for (lives saved) is really small. That means you need to have really well controlled studies to separate it out clearly.

That study in Egypt was the best evidence in ivermectin's favor. The retraction sucks, if you are rooting for ivermectin to prove out as a real treatment.

The study that was supposed to be the gold standard for a study that everyone is relying upon has some problems with plagiarism and raw data that doesn't match the conclusions in the study.

Not going to debate with you, HTownAg98, or anyone else on this topic. I'm not telling you or anyone else to take Ivermectrin. I simply posted information relevent to the OP.

I will say it is frustrating that you are intent on debunking a study, while the ariticle I posted is based on frontline doctor's actual experiences with the treatment.

So Joe Biden approved then. Got it.

It works. My daughter came home from camp one week ago with covid. I haven't had it, don't have antibodies, and not vaccinated. On Monday I started to have mild symptoms so started the ivermectin I had on the ready. By Tuesday night I was back at 100%. On Wednesday I took a covid test, negative. No symptoms since and I have been around her the entire time. We will see it I have antibodies in about 4 weeks.

Daughter is doing fine now, 4 days of mild symptoms. Treated with vitamin C and lots of time outside in the pool for her vitamin D.

I'm not intent on debunking anything, I think that's where you misunderstood what I'm saying.

Most drugs fail. Something like 75% don't make it to approval. We should be generally skeptical on any proposed treatment based on that alone.

The case for ivermectin started based on in vitro trials and it looks like it probably was a false positive from a different effect (phospholipidosis). Since then a lot of effort has been spent on researching it, but the results haven't been very promising.

There is a reason that we have a way to test and approve drugs beyond front line doctors using it.

I hope it works, but I don't think it does based on the studies that have been done so far. If the Oxford study or one of the other large trials going on now show that it does, I will happily eat crow and change my position with new information.
