A top expert on vaccinations is urging Americans to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as the number of new infections fueled by the highly contagious delta variant continues to rise in the U.S.

"I think there is no question that we are going to see a surge," Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic told CBS 4 Minnesota Tuesday.

The doctor said he still wears a mask when out in public when he's "in a crowded scenario," whether it be indoors or outdoors.

He noted that Minnesota, like many other parts of the country, are experiencing a rise in cases as the delta variant continues to circulate, and he's seeing cases of severe disease and hospitalization among younger people.

Our country is in a historic fight against the Coronavirus. Add Changing America to your Facebook or Twitter feed to stay on top of the news.

"Don't be deceived that 'I got this far and I am OK.' This is a very different variant. It will find you," he told CBS 4.

"This virus will find everybody who is not immune," he added.

I'm convinced that most in the government are cheering on the DV and hoping it really does infect everyone not vaccinated and many of them would probably not mind seeing hundred of thousands of dead bodies to go along with it.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Correction, if you're not vaccinated and you have no prior immunity then Delta "will find you."

And if you're posting/reading this board you have a 99.9%+ chance of being fine and gaining your God Given Immunity.

Unless you're talking about the developing world that can't afford vaccines, this is pretty much statistically impossible at this point.

The at-risk population has almost completely been either vaccinated or have natural immunity. There simply aren't enough at-risk people without immunity left in the first world to result in hundreds of thousands of deaths within a few years.

Cumulative cases in the US to date is about 34 million.

So it's been over a year and 90% of US residents haven't caught covid.

He's absolutely right. Unfortunately for him, and counter to the media narrative is the vaccine doesn't make you immune. The only people immune are those that got covid previously. So it's time the vaxxers who never got the infection get comfortable with the fact that they will ultimately get it.

Or they had it and never realized. I would not be surprised that 200mill people in this country have natural immunity now.

I keep seeing this 99.9% survival rate thrown around as if COVID should be taken lightly. 0.1% is a lot of people in a country of over 330 million. And "survival" does not mean "not sick".

Trust me, a sore arm for a couple of days is a lot more preferable than getting admitted to the ICU/ventilated and suffering pneumonia for several weeks yet "surviving".

A sore arm is one thing.

The numerous other problems people have with these vaccines are another.

Why do they care if a person chooses to not get the vaccine and risk their own health? This whole vaccine push is dystopian.

1. They are living in terror and want everyone else vaccinated, locked down, and wearing masks so they will feel safe.

2. Ignorant do gooders who think they're saving people.

3. Totalitarians who want to control everyone.

No virologist here, but isn't the natural course for viruses to become more contagious -- but less deadly -- as they mutate to try and continue spreading (and living).

There's another story here that's not being covered. It's how unhealthy many Americans are, largely due to obesity-related issues, which makes them more vulnerable to disease. See it all the time when I'm in public, and the trend is going in the wrong direction.

Instead of masks, how about pushing an agenda for more exercise and less fried foods and sugars?

Right, because the "numerous problems" people have with COVID aren't anything to worry about.

It's my choice what to worry about and what not to worry about. The risks and inconvenience of covid and the benefits of the vaccine are so small.

It's like debating whether or not its worth picking up a penny on the ground. Yes you are a cent richer, but who the **** cares.

I'm vaccinated, but I'd also argue why add the problems if you've already had covid? I can easily see why someone who's had covid doesn't really care to get it. If I hadn't had it, I would advise getting it. But at the end of the day? Oh freaking well if someone chooses otherwise. I really don't get the push for it any more? Deaths are down lower than normal respiratory illness levels right now and only likely going to get lower

I said of people that read and post on this board. Generally younger and more healthy.

These are the nuances that are important to understand.

Just curious - how many people do you personally know that this has happened to? Not a family member's friend or coworker but someone that you actually know. Every person I ask this the answer is 0 or 1. Usually if they do know someone, that person has at least one comorbidity

This is some next level CNN type numbers.

How in the actual eff would they know who has/hasn't had the virus? Pretty sure about 50% of the people I know, had the virus and didn't tell anyone from the government or a doctor.

I'm an acute care Nurse Practitioner. I've personally cared for many of these people. I've seen every level of severity of COVID and I've watched many of the die. Comorbidities can certainly increase your chances of a bad outcome but the absence of them do not guarantee absence of severe illness.
Sure, complications from the jab happen but they are extremely rare and even more rare than a "relatively healthy person" getting severely ill from COVID.

You are certainly free to choose whether or not to get the jabs but arrogant dismissal of what this virus can do to people is patently absurd.
