I haven't been following closely enough apparently, anyone know what happened that precipitated the current situation? Looks like Keith Hazlewood is out and the Facebook page is now in limbo.

Can you elaborate for those of us that don't keep up with Rudder Association

There have been some weird posts on what was serving as an "official" facebook group, lots of "dirty deletes" and such, and claims that the FB group has been hijacked, etc. If one's main interaction with the organization was through Facebook, it's not clear what the heck is going on.

Is this the rudder foundation, the one that was created to help fight progressive change at A&M?

Admittedly I was very excited about the organization when it launched but have not found the time to participate beyond following on Facebook. The group page name has now changed (as I understand it) because Keith was ousted by the TAR board and he owned the page. Apparently there was a Zoom meeting last night that explained the situation to some extent but that I missed. I'm trying to understand what issue split the group and if the board as now constituted is worth sticking with.

From what I have gathered in the thousands of angry posts on RudAssPot (formerly the Rudder Association), the leader, Keith Hazlewood was ousted from the Board at recent elections. I can't tell if he just took his toys and went home, or if the new board pushed him out altogether.

Either way, KH has ownership of the Facebook page, and removed all the new board members from the page, and changed it to RudAssPot.

The Rudder Association Portal page (run by the new board members) also has a bunch of angry posts, demanding to be told in a clear and concise manner what has happened.

One of the admins is Donna Hunter. I'm not sure who the others are, but they are all posting under the name "Rudder Association" on the Facebook page, and claiming complete surprise that KH kicked them off the page (which is odd, because as someone pointed out, this new Facebook page was created *before* they were removed from the other), which is why there is no statement from the organization.

They are also claiming not to have access to the membership rolls, and blaming that for the lack of a response or statement (which, again, as someone else pointed out, is not needed. Post an announcement to the top of the Facebook page and be done with it).

I'm just glad I never donated, because I would be pissed the hell off by all the childish crap these folks are pulling right now.

Reorganize on a platform that is not Facebook. Winning.

TLDR;

Keith Hazelwood founded the org and raised most of the money and shepherded the org into creating a board of directors. There was a board meeting over Zoom and during that call a split of visions became irreconcilable. Hazelwood (or someone) demanded the board decide to go Hazlewood's direction or Joe Bougious (call sign Joe Boo never met him). Hazelwood accused Joe Boo of being in the pocket of the new TAMU president. Board voted for Joe Boo side or Hazelwood side. Hazelwood lost. In the aftermath, Hazelwood locked the current board out of the FB group, changed the name of the group, and etc. he might be throwing a temper tantrum. I don't know. I'm a paid member and have not received word of what's happening but I think the new board will pull it out and save it once those causing drama are out of the way.

This is from what I read on RedA$sPot fb group, formerly TRA official page, now maintained by Hazelwood.

All I can say is, good grief!

I'm really surprised that it took this long for it all to blow up.

They have a website that looks like it was designed by a third grader. They are directing everyone to this site for their "statement" that will be posted "later".

It formed last year in response to the attacks on Sully. It started as a method of slowing the progressive takeover on campus.

Then they started asking for money.

Interesting. Sounds like the split is in part driven by whether to act as independent or partners with the administration (i.e.- The Association of Former Students). I know which camp I identify with. We've already tried the latter, and it has unfortunately been an utter failure on the culture/politics front.

As for KH refocusing on scholarships- while noble and meaningful for those students directly impacted, it's unlikely to stem the leftward culture/political changes encouraged from the top down.

Good post.

KH is my uncle and the The Rudder Foundation was his vision. It was designed to help fight the cancer that grows from within and that has infected the leadership of Texas A&M University.

If you can get on the ZOOM call, get on it....if not, don't speculate.

There is no one who has worked harder and done more to help fight to keep our great university from succumbing to the left and their "woke' narrative and threats.

Many have been reluctant to join The Rudder Foundation, because of fear from retaliation.

The entire "difference of opinion" in this mess is from a politically driven power trip by one individual and the other wants to create scholarships....not hard to figure out who has raised money, given scholarships, spent thousands of hours working and who hasn't given a dime or any of his time.


Support Olag74, Keith Kazlewood....he's the one who cares about the future of Texas A&M and not himself.

You have NO IDEA what you're talking about. You are clueless to what these guys have done. There were staff changes made by the new President, directly as a result of KH and TRF.

How many meetings did you attend?

There was money raised and scholarships given.

There was thousands of hours and countless mailings, emails, etc. done. Which of these did you volunteer to help with.

Do you know the recipients of the scholarships?

I remember when all this started. I initially was in support of their efforts, but I quickly saw that TRA was not going to fight the progressive cancer in my alma mater with aggressive and non-compromising stances. I'll see if I saved the emails, but suffice it to say, they were going to "fight" these marxists by being kind. I knew right away that was set up to fail and asked to be removed from their email list and that I would not be donating. As is typical of the right, most do not know how to fight these people and are afraid of offending someone. They refuse to understand their enemy.

Yeah, it sucks when you have someone who takes a stand to make changes and the very people brought in to help get it done, stabs him in the back because of the very thing killing our university. Political corruption and power hungry parasites.

Anything beyond vague, broad-stroke allegations?

What's been done to the Facebook group by KH isn't exactly measured and messaged.
