The real questions though:

Were they stolen in a manner sensitive to the needs of the female, gay and POC members of the military? Did the thieves have a representative number of those who identify ad trans or non-binary?

These are the real concerns of today's Army.

Because HOOD is huge and lots of soldiers there.
They are also on bivouac all the time, not just laying around in the rear.

Need to focus on real issues such as changing the name from Ft Hood to something less abhorrently offensive

They are going to need to wait until morning to continue their search.

Right now a cartel member is in a hide site watching for USBP etc. The OP is using NVGs, thermals and spotting scopes, if needed.

Money can make anything grow legs and disappear. Crazy how that works.

Anyone check Craigslist or that Facebook market place? Do I need to summon the Outdoor board in an effort to find the NVGs?

I can remember in 1987, Ft. Irwin, CA gates in lockdown for 2 days after 1 set of NODs were lost in desert by a player unit. Brigade sized units--personnel lined up at double-arm interval, searching the desert on foot for the one pair of NVGs.

Obviously, a different time.

Similar story here. One set of NVGs missing (lost in the field), equals the Commanding General telling 14,000 Marines 'Well, I guess we'll just all go back out until they are found'. About 6 hours later, on a Friday when everyone was supposed to be set free on Liberty, they were miraculously FOUND!

That first round of MREs being handed out after sunset when everyone was expecting hot chow in town or with their families has a way of saying 'Gents, I can do this all night, all weekend, and all next week if I need to'.

100 sets sounds like a serious crime.
