Jack Carr spent a lot of time in the library growing up, was a SEAL for 20 years (enlisted and then officer, did it right), and his first book series of political thrillers about James Reece that have been on the New York Times best sellers. Good story lines, adds a of of true history into his books, and goes into the gear used. Puts a lot of his experiences in his book, one being what Ross Perot did to help his family and special needs child.

He does a lot of "what would I do" as far as terrorist tactics and how they would attack the USA which is often scary. Chris Pratt has the movie rights to the book series and is in the process of doing an Amazon series.

Posting this in the political forum because, well, after you read the books you will understand. A lot of the characters are based on real people, including politicians, so see if you can figure out who they are. A woman who is Secretary of Defense running for president with a husband who is a well known cheater, doesn't take much for that one.

Terminal list - book about revenge, government conspiracy and what someone with nothing left to live for other than revenge will do

True Believer - good part of the book is about Reece working in Africa as a wildlife conservationist and was written so well it makes you want that part to continue more. Story about how their is always another true believer willing to kill for their cause. Goes into the CIA overseas

Savage Son - Hints of "The Most Dangerous Game" and the quote by Hemingway , "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, will never care for anything else thereafter". Lots about Russia on this one, including human trafficking, their work in Africa, and how the government and mafia overlap.

Devil's Hand - What our enemies are learning watching us at continuous war for 20 years and ways to attack us. Was writing a book about a bioweapon and then Covid hit so he added that in the story. Lots of truth in this book, including what lead to 9/11 and a country that was heavily involved but not mentioned.

Fantastic books. These are my favorite entertainment reads right now. Devil's Hand was a chilling take on current events. Also I want a Land Cruiser now...

Very excited to see the Amazon series with Chris Pratt. On his latest appearance on Joe Rogan, Carr said the developers have kept him involved in the whole process.

Have to concur with positive reviews, bought and listened to all 4 audiobooks after I heard him on the Joe Rogan podcast, cannot wait for the next one.

Highly recommend "I am Pilgrim" by Terry Hayes, that was a riveting book as well. Plot revolves around bio-terrorism.

I bought the first book and it's sitting on my night stand. Haven't cracked it yet, but maybe will start this weekend. It's just the four books so far, right?

Yes, but a fifth should coming, given the ending of The Devil's Hand.

I listed them in order, would recommend that way.

And as another poster stated the audiobooks are fantastic. Ray Porter is a good narrator but sometimes slow so I listen at 1.25-1.5x speed.

Have read the first two and they are great reads. Good to hear they are going to make a movie/series out of them.

The book series is great, one of the best since Vince Flynn started the Mitch Rapp series. Lets hope Amazon and Pratt do a better job than Amazon and Michael B. Jordon did on Without Remorse.

Jack Carr also does a podcast called Danger Close, I have them bookmarked but haven't had a chance to listen yet.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just downloaded the first book and read the author's foreward where he speaks about his concerns of politicians and judges gathering power towards the federal government. It seems like it will be an entertaining but thought-provoking read.

Chris Pratt loved the books and wanted to play James Reece so he purchased the rights. Don't agree with Constance Wu playing Katie Buranek (supposed to be eastern European) but a good start with Pratty playing Reece and Taylor Kitsch playing another key role. Antonie Fuqua is the director who did Training Day, Shooter, The Equalizer 1 and 2, and some other movies so it should be pretty entertaining.

Carr has done technical help with Six so he knows what happens behind the scenes.

Great reads. Burned through every one of them and can't wait for the series.

Side note - I forget where, but Carr was talking about the passing of Ross Perot. Carr has a son that at the time, was one of a handful (13 maybe?) known neurological cases in the world and required care his entire life (read about the parallel in his book with the character Freddie in the 3rd book).

Perot found out, chartered a jet of the world's best scientists and flew to Carr's home. The malady wasn't even diagnosed. They did this. Flew the family to a top medical facility, all free of charge, and coordinated with EU doctors and made the diagnosis.

Never made the news. No fanfare. Carr later learned he'd done this for numerous other servicemen and women. Got a little dusty listening to Jack talk about how scared they were with his deployments and his son with this rare disease and how much of a blessing Perot's actions were and how Jack will forever hold that man in the highest esteem.

Nobody cares. Work Harder

Just finished listening to "Terminal List". I enjoyed it but it was quite off-putting to have the male narrator read the female character's lines. Had flashbacks to Monty Python.

I listen to most audio books around 1.25x, but these I listen to an normal 1x just to make them last longer.

I have loved all 4 of these books so far, and the 5th one will come out in early April 2022 ( at least the last 2 have been the same time frame, one per year)

If you want to jump ahead and see how much Iran is involved in the middle east than the last book is a good highlight. Without Iran you do not have Hamas
