Someone explain to me why I shouldn't be worried about the second amendments future...

Quote:

The Supreme Court in today's order list granted certiorari to a Second Amendment case. This is the first time that certiorari has been granted for a Second Amendment case in ten years.

The case 20-843 NEW YORK STATE RIFLE, ET AL. V. CORLETT, KEITH M., ET AL. concerns the requirement in New York State the a person show a need to carry a firearm for self defense. The state is the sole judge of whether or not a permit to carry a concealed weapon will be granted.

How would this case be used to limit gun rights? It seems more likely to expand them.

How about if they rule states can legitimately prohibit possession outside the home?

Even with Roberts, this court is waaaaaaay more likely to drastically expand 2a rights with this case.

The fear is that this case will precipitate the court expansion the left keeps threatening.

I think we are about to learn a lot about our new justices and how far Robert's may have drifted

And this is the focus of the case

Quote:

The grant of certiorari states the following,
Quote:

THE PETITION FOR A WRIT OF CERTIORARI IS GRANTED LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: WHETHER THE STATE'S DENIAL OF PETITIONERS' APPLICATIONS FOR CONCEALED-CARRY LICENSES FOR
SELF-DEFENSE VIOLATED THE SECOND AMENDMENT.

This case needs to be heard and settled by the Supreme Court.

This. Shouldn't have to prove a "need" or "justification" to carry.

Perhaps a demonstration of basic competency and knowledge of relevant law for concealed carry. I understand that's debatable, but that should be the extent of state oversight. "Shall issue" should be the starting premise.

Agreed. The 'shall issue' nonsense needs to go with this ruling.
