STINNETT, Texas The now-infamous, former Stinnett Police Chief Jason Collier was arrested Thursday by Texas Rangers, according to multiple online reports.

Collier became the subject of public scrutiny after allegations of infidelity went viral on social media with multiple accusations of extramarital affairs.

City Manager Durk Downs released a statement Thursday as news of the scandal spread and said that Collier resigned as chief of police for Stinnett effective immediately.

According to NBCDFW, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Cindy Barkley said that Collier has been charged with tampering with a government document with the intent to defraud.

"Collier allegedly sent a text message to the victim with a fraudulent government record attached. The document was a fraudulent marriage annulment," Barkley said.

I'm aware. Just surprised it's this far up the totem pole as far as illegalities under their jurisdiction. Maybe it's just getting more publicity due to the salacious nature of the story.

Without a doubt it is all because of the salacious details.

It's been on Fox News and likely other national media outlets as well.

If he was arrested for embezzling funds, it would make the local news and maybe a few of the bigger publications in Texas, and that would be it.

I'm glad someone is responsible for such at the state level. In DC, no action can be taken for fear it might look politically motivated. So corruption there is unchecked and just a way of life.

The best part is how he was busted when one of his girlfriends posted them on social media as being a couple. And based on what I've read, there's more women involved than what is in the article. Seems the dude was getting around the High Plains.

At one place I worked, the receptionist was banging the UPS guy. This was common knowledge and an open joke. He was married and had 2 or 3 daughters.

One day, she gets a phone call from his other girlfriend. She wants this fine, outstanding example of a human being for herself. By the time was all said it done, it turned out he was juggling FIVE different girlfriends on the side.

I'm guessing he called them Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,.....

With Sunday being his day of rest.
