This is great news all around, though hopefully they can bring in the deadline yet another five years or so. Its now time to get all the infrastructure in place. This can't come soon enough to help greatly reduce our dependency on oil.

In other words, GM wants to go out of business.

What kind of power plants will we produce to get the required electricity to charge the batteries? Solar and Wind are not suitable for stable base loads.

So Mary Barra, the Obama Motors CEO, plans to kill the rest of the lineup off in 25 years. Ok, good luck with that. Electric as indicated is 7 percent of the global market.

It may/will grow but I doubt the last SBC is going to be produced in that timeframe, no matter what the politicians who Obama minions put in charge at GM 10 years ago say today.

Where are we going to source the rare earth minerals for the batteries? And how are they going to be mined without environmental destruction now associated with mining them? Also how will we maintain mobility etc when that very finite resource is gone? We going back to horse and buggy and sail boats?

I'd like to see the battery than can support a motor towing a horse trailer for 300 miles, a 10 minute pit stop, then go again.

But it's fine with me if Government Motors wants to go broke again, I just hope there isn't another Marxist takeover and bailout by the government at my expense this time.

You could do that today with roughly four model s batteries and a 30 minute pit stop.

By 2035, the battery technology should be strong enough to support 1000+ miles a charge. I don't see why this is much of a big deal.
