Liberals, have you read 1984, Fahrenheit 451, or Animal Farm?

What was your take away from those books if you bothered to read them? Personally they informed a lot of my political leanings today relative to big government.

Do you find it at all concerning that the democrat party is so closely tied to big tech and all the major news companies that they can be considered thought police? They are literally now in the business of filtering out "wrong think" from what they consider "right think" and remind us daily that some animals (Democrats) are more equal than others (Republicans).

Does that really not concern you deep down?

Those books are like a "how to" manual for leftists. It's their dream world.

Edit - Wombat beat me to it.

Yup and I found it very concerning we had a president saying all news is lies and attempted to get people to only trust him

Libs don't have a problem with it because they aren't the target. As long as it's happening to their enemy, they're cool with it.

He offered many examples where the media outright lied.

Can you attempt to answer the question in the OP?

Some riots are more equal than others. Trying to burn down a Federal Courthouse for 12 straight nights is fine. Raiding Pelosi's office minibar is the end of the republic.

That said, the person that killed the cop? Fry 'em.

Not joking. She really said that.

Bradbury was a libertarian leaning traditional conservative until the day he did.

But Orwell was a leftist whose work was co-opted by the right during the Reagan years.

So you got scared because someone's words? I didn't like some of the things the president said. However, did the president ever call for banning and socially expelling citizens?

I heard all the fears from the left that he was going to round up gays but he ended up having a married gay man as head of the NSA. I heard all the banter from the left about how he hated minorities yet many minority' groups did better and voted for him at a higher percentage. I heard all the fear mongering that he was going to start wars but he is the first President in decades not have started a new one and leaves a legacy of peace deals. So remind me again who was trying to gin up fear?

Trump fought with words and it was ugly at times. But words can't hurt you. He lost and the Democrats won. What are they doing with their victory? Are they using words to convince and reassure? No, they are using there new found power to eliminate the words of their opponents. That IS dangerous. If you take away someone's words, all they have left is sticks and stones.

Its very obvious few Media have, or have recalled it correctly.

But the "instruction manual" post comes closer.

Did you know Twitter took down hashtag 1984 and various Reagan quotes? Was just told that.

I would argue that leftists in Orwell's day are pretty much where Republicans are now.

Go back and listen to any of a number of JFK's speeches for examples.

We're seeing multiple examples of Newspeak on a daily basis... The reduction of vocabulary to convey an intended meaning other than what would be more accurate when an appropriate word was used.

Incite - being used to describe Trump's speech, when in fact he was encouraging people to go to the Capitol to have their voices heard. In actuality, no worse that the words of Maxine Waters or Kamala Harris.

Isurrection - Used to describe what happened at the Capitol. Was it wrong? Yes. Was it riotous? Yes. Was it a full insurrection? No more than anything we've seen in Portland or Seattle. Yet that was "peaceful protest".

We've recently seen the suggestion by members of the media that Conservatives are no longer worthy of that moniker - in favor of "extremist" or "radical".

Just 3 examples of Newspeak in today's world. There are many more. Feel free to share.

NO, THEY ARE NOT.

This is very important and it is why many conservatives miss this: The left THINKS ONLY conservatives and/or Republican led governments can implement the harms talked about in those books. The left believes THEY, and only THEY, are the upholders of all that is good simply because they value certain rights (sexual related primarily) over others (constitutional and fundamental, for the most part), many of which they consider evil. That's why they redefine terms. For example: Trump is a dictator, not because he will have exclusive control of the US (when has he ever even remotely had that) but because he has some control against THEM. Trump, et.al., is a fascist, not because he is in favor of total governmental control and complete usurpation of all individual rights, but because he doesn't let the left implement their own forms of fascism.

The left thinks the last 4 years has been a version of 1984. But these are the same people that think Joe Biden actually won the election. The people that think that riots over THEIR causes are justified yet protests for causes they don't like should be put down and everyone arrested. The people that demand that every business in America bake a cake for a gay "wedding" in the name of rights but that when it comes to conservatives, private business can do whatever they want and usurp any right, constitutional or otherwise. In other words, totally delusional.

Taught all 3 of them

1) Physical books are one of the most important things in you can have and have the joy to read for the first time or 100th time. They let you know truths others may not want you to know

2) Do not trust that most in power are looking out for your best interest

3) The powers that be will tell you that 2+2=4, but if free will exists, you can know that 2+2=5. Offer them extra credit for reading Notes from Underground and compare the two ideas about 2+2.

4) Anyone can become corrupted by power.

5) We do not and should not need the government watching our every move.

6) Censorship by the government because they do not like something is a terrible thing

No you unread loon!

It is from Dostoevski's "Notes from Underground."

If life is just nothing but a series of equations and logic, man has no free will.
Free will is necessary otherwise we are just an organ stop

We need to be illogical and irrational.

This is what the Underground Man thinks.

2+2=4 represents oppressive logic and reason
2+2=5 represents the freedom to be illogical
