I have recently accepted an offer with one of the big O&G/Energy companies in Houston and really want to know what I can expect with the possibility of a major change in the industry.

Thanks!

Also, you cant make anything anymore without oil&gas.

Prices of oil will go up bc of regulations. Your job is super safe.

With a Republican majority senate, probably not much in 4 years except drive gas prices up. If Senate is 50/50, then look out below.

Sorry,

It was a negative derivation of a Ben Stiller quote from Meet the Parents.

He will be bad for the industry if he still has plans for eliminating fossil fuels & fracking.

I build pipelines. The presidents pencil may as well be a dick slap to your livelihood.

The Biden presidency will have little effect...

The Harris presidency will have a larger effect.

Make sure you are saving adequately. You probably already know this but, The O&G industry is cyclical even without the influence of Washington DC.

It's gonna be the same **** Obama pulled....

They're gonna throw out a bunch of restrictions & impede efficiency... it's gonna drive up demand & increase gas prices....

So if you're smart, there will be opportunities to capitalize monetarily on lib incompetence...

the administration will cast rhetoric aside and cozy up to the industry lobbyists just like they always have, your job is safe

OP,

I have been in petrochem since I was 18. Dad was a ChemE at Dow growing up.

I have made good money under every president. Clinton, Bush, Hussein, Trump.

Take care of your business and you will be fine.

If it's one of the "Big" oilers out of Houston that will be doing the acquiring and not being acquired.
1) Don't be on the high end of the pay scale for your position.
2) Do your job efficiently.

Do that and you'll be just fine when demand is exceeding supply.

Hope you're right. No integrity is what I always hope for politicians.

I am in the construction business and 90% of our $500MM per year revenue is oil/petro.

Senior management has had many meetings in the last week planning for the future with a down-turn in the oil/petro.

It is scary!

Please observe the O&G industry in 2008 for a good idea of what to expect.

Hopefully by running gas up to 8 bucks a gallon directly.

Sure, he'll get crushed in 2024, but at least there will be four years where the proles get OFF MY ROADS.

Prices will spike. Profits will be good. Just don't work for a company heavily leveraged to federal leases.

Industry did fine under Obama and he had both houses of Congress for a while and a much more liberal Supreme Court. Long term outlook may take a hit but I think it will probably be okay during next 4 years.

all the scaremongering around here about the end of oil was just overwrought hysterics, the king of saudi arabia has more power to kill oil jobs in the us than president

o&g will be around for decades until the market decides otherwise, and when the time comes it'll still be the exxons and chevrons providing whatever takes its place

Ok in all seriousness, I don't think we are at a point, if we ever will be, where Biden can shut down the oil. AOC and her donkey mouth can cry all day and night about fracking, but reality has a way of overcoming pie in the sky fantasies. I'm not saying the extreme left won't try, mind you, but Biden is a pragmatist in many ways. He may also be dementia-ridden but even Harris probably knows taking down oil and gas is a bridge too far. Again, I am not betting anything on it but I also know that even leftists get upset when gas prices get too high.
