Just a reminder that we compete with the world, not each other. Whoever gets to the future faster, wins. We need to all unite to get there faster.

Fortunately Tesla has important operations in Texas and Arizona, and silicon valley has a dozen billion dollar electric car startups

"China has announced an ambitious plan to require all new car sales in 2035 to be either hybrids or new-energy vehicles (NEVs), in a move that is likely to have important consequences for global auto brands."

So get rid of all fossil fuels, then mandate all hybrid or electric vehicles, while increasing regulations.

How are you going to power these cars?

Chinese cars SUUUUUUUUCK. They often simply clone, and poorly at that, other makers' products.

Not worried about their idiocy. They can't even make a strong virus.

Globalist snake oil and pipe dreams aren't unique to American leftists. Neither are the ignorant masses that believe them.

It's bait to give their American cousins the ammunition to say see, the Chinese are doing their part. And it's all one big lie.

This is about them trying to take world market share of vehicles from the US, Korea and Japan. They can put a ton of R&D into it and beat the rest of the world in development and mass production of these vehicles. They know there will be demand.

China is the world's biggest polluter. They don't give two craps about any of this climate change stuff.

Oh FFS. Who is naive enough to believe they will hold themselves to this?

This does make a small bit of sense.

China has maybe 10-15% of the cars per capita as does the US. So they are likely going to have a crap ton of new buyers and new car manufacturing in the next few decades.

If you believe that all cars will be electric in say, 30 years, a controlled economy won't waste time building factories for gas-powered cars. Skip that expensive step, jump ahead to electric only.

A similar example would be telephones. A lot of third world countries are skipping the19th and 20th century telephone system with wires, and going straight to cell, with a huge cost saving over strung wires.

Maybe China is skipping 20th century car culture and going to 21st.

But then, this is a Chinese controlled economy, you know they're lying, and you know they'll much it up.

Hybrid is the future in my opinion, like the Prius configuration. None of the cons of fully electric, but reduces emissions.

This. It's to push American leftists further that direction and closer to ruination.
