...and it kills me to admit it. Even RCP has shifted on the Senate, but somehow that guy with a wife and (at least) three confirmed girlfriends is going to beat his Republican challenger. The American experiment--perhaps the entire experiment in western representative democracies--is finished.
While I admit my own near despair, if you are a Christian, I refer myself and you to Francis Cardinal George:
"I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history."
If I'm wrong, feel free to spike the ball repeatedly on me on Wednesday. I'll thank you and ask for more. But I don't see that happening. The AG of and American state has today openly declared that he will fix the outcome to defeat a sitting president. The soon-to-be president-elect has referred to his political opponent--and, by extension, those who support his opponent--as "the virus." I am particularly sorry for those of you with children moving into this brave new world.
