Voting if you didn't register ahead of time?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
If I have family and friends who didn't register by the deadline, can they show up to the polling place with proper ID and vote?

It seems like I've done that in the past even though I didn't register ahead of time.

In TX, btw.

Anyone here know how that works?

My answer depends on whether they are Democrat or Republican voters

No they cannot vote.
If they are too lazy to register, they don't get to vote.

If you are not registered to vote where you live, no you won't be allowed to vote. The deadline was this last Monday for Texas.

Have they moved, changed names, etc since last time they voted?

I know they aren't registered.

I just thought I remembered in the past walking in and telling them I didn't register, and they said it's ok as long as you have your ID. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Never voted. They don't usually care. I was going to bring them along to vote with me.

Some states have day of registration. Texas does not. You can vote without your voter ID card. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.
Can't even do that anymore, unless you qualify for an absentee ballot.

BTW, since people have had problems with renewing their licenses during covid, and those who haven't been able to do that, there has been an extension until December 18th in which you won't be penalized for having an expired license in Texas.

I assume that will apply to voting as well.

Unless they are black or clearly democrat, then they get a pass.

I was thinking you could do some sort of affidavit on site if not registered? One time I was registered but had moved so I wasn't registered in the location I was voting in. I was told I would have to do the affidavit and that they count those votes in some sort of preliminary form and they only count them if the election is too close to call.

There is a huge difference between not being registered and being in a different district than the initial registration.

Do you really want all Democrats to be able to register on election day when they see the results in the Eastern Time Zone?

Are they alive? If not, you may be good to go in some states.

Unfortunately, no they cannot. To vote in an election in Texas, you have to register at least 30 days before that election.

The way we do voting is messed up. For and federal position, the federal government should create the law. 1 law covers all 50 states. Enough of this each state doing it their way creating confusion.

I don't think that'll happen anytime soon. The Constitution gives states the power to set a date and time for elections and everything that goes with that, such as registration.

You do not need your voter ID card when you go to vote in Texas. You do need identification.

I think after every Presidential election all voter rolls should be purged and you have to go through the process again to vote.

Which is what I said. I'm one of those weird people that keep my voter ID card and always present it. It wasn't that long ago that I also presented my DL as ID and the poll worker told me to put it away because they didn't require it. That would have been 2012.
