I haven't been following the Portland stuff much but I watched this live stream for a little bit tonight. A large number of police were walking down the street getting everything cleared and arresting some in the way.
Is this a new thing or have they been doing this for a while? I thought the police werent doing much in Portland because of the weak mayor?

Molotov cocktails should more than enough justification to use live ammunition. It's not like throwing a water balloon or even a rock which can be blocked by a shield.

Yes I know the "protests" have been going on for months, but I was asking about the police. They actually seemed pretty organized and tough last night so my question is are the police just recently fighting back and what got them to start fighting back as I thought the mayor and city were limiting their ability
