I assumed he's 3rd-5th rounder as is. I'm hoping he doesn't stick around and goes to the draft.

I am very skeptical spring football happens. The logistics are apparently very difficult to pull that off and that would then significantly affect the 2021 season. A large percentage of the best college players would doubtless skip it. And then there is no guarantee the virus situation will be significantly better, so will be incredibly difficult to even try to plan it. spring will be a topic but I think ultimately they won't do it.

Canadian League maybe. He will be a late round selection unless he has a Joe Burrow type of season.

There will not be spring ball, period. If they are cancelling because of the Indiana OL in the hospital, there may never be football again until a vaccine is introduced.

How often will schools be testing student-athletes for Covid if they played in the Fall? It is likely the safest environment these guys would be in.

he is a perfectly average quarterback, who has not had a noteworthy college career in spite of high passing numbers.

Not much in the signature win category, and not a consistent winner in games that matter.
His long ball is questionable at best.
He would be a fine 3rd string backup or practice team QB.

In other words. Good to great college QB, likely mediocre NFL QB

Great college qb's don't lose 4-5 games a year and miss wide open receivers in big time moments.

I've seen good to great college QBs. He's mediocre in CFB too.

No wait... I mean he's really really good. I think he has a real chance of scoring on draft day. You're awesome Mond!!!

Won't miss it. This is coming from someone who has watched Aggie football at every opportunity since '88.

A vaccine will only be about 50% effective like the flu. The mouth breathing public will be the downfall of all of this

I would not even rate him as great. He has had great moments but it is not consistent. At all.

Like you say, he is a good QB with average arm strength but below average accuracy in both long and mid field mixed with slow read progression. Average pocket presence that compensates with toughness that can hurt opponents with his legs in crunch time.

Which equals to mid second at best with a minimal QB class. Third and fourth round is where I would put him in a normal class. Just my opinion of course and me being as objective as I can. That being said, I don't really see how you can argue otherwise.

they are still college athletes who will be going home, and partying, and seeing family and friends, boinking the night away,, etc.

and it just takes one to get sick....

Football players get sick during the season all the time. Occasionally; they even have to miss a game when sick. Not sure covid is strong enough to make someone miss a game, though.

one player, at one school getting sick has started an entire cascade of discussions and events that might cancel the season.

ergo, the virus is strong enough to cause a whole lotta people to "miss a game."
ergo, people are ****ing brain-dead morons and scared little *****es over a weakass virus.

The virus ain't ****, but the fear of it is.

i would bet the draft is postponed or abbreviated next year. not too many players will be hurt during the season (I predict is will close down early). And many will not retire because they want to be paid their money. so the need for a lot of newbies will be lessened.

Three arguments against that.

1. Age. Time marches on sometimes it isn't a matter of desire to play but ability.
2. Safety. We are seeing many opt out now. Without a full blown cure (and that is unlikely) some will still choose not play for health reasons (in their family).
3. Greed. I'm talking about the league here. New blood is their lifeline and part of what feeds the machine. Fans are excited by new additions every year and the league wants marketable bodies, stories. They need youth influx.

The NFL greed outweighs the players desire to be paid. Rookies are also cheaper than vets other than 1st rounders generally and the league is not going to pass on the top talent whether they have another year of college ball or not.

Logistical nightmare between basketball, baseball and football at the same time? What are the networks supposed to do? March Madness at the same time as Thursday night and Saturday football games?
