Daniel 11:21-35 Antiochus Epiphanes was a Type of the Anti-Christ

Antiochus Epiphanes was a cruel, Jew-hating Syrian king who occupied Jerusalem for awhile, ruling from 175-164 BC.

On Sept. 6, 171 BC, he began his blasphemous actions against the Temple

The supreme insult took place on December 15, 168, when he sacrificed a huge sow on the Jewish Temple altar.

In three days he murdered over 40,000 Jews.

On December 25, 165 (2300 days after the September 6, 171, date; See Dan. 8:9-14) some Jewish heroes called the Maccabees recaptured Jerusalem and the Syrian occupation ended.

Daniel 11:36-45 The Anti-Christ

Will be totally self-willed
Will magnify himself and malign God
Will prosper for awhile
Will not regard for gods of his fathers
Will have no desire for women
Will honor the god of fortress
Will be attacked by two southern and northern kings
Will occupy the Holy Land
Will occupy Egypt
Will hear frightful news while in Egypt
Will return to the Holy Land and wage war
Will be destroyed by Christ on Mt. Zion. - Willmington

This is the background for the celebration of the holiday of Chanukah.
The date, BTW, was the 25th of the Jewish month of Kislev.

Olsen,
Do you know the significance of the 1290 days and 1335 days of Dan. 12:11-12?

Perhaps the Abomination of Desolation will be set up in the temple of Jerusalem thirty days before the Great Tribulation begins; this would explain the 1,290 days.

As for the 1335 days, this has been explained as taking us past the Coming of Christ and the judgment of His foes to the beginning of His reign.

Olsen,
Ive always thought the extra 30 days are for the judgment of the nations. I agree that the 1,335th day is the start of the Millennium.

The Millennium is a fascinating study.
