For those that didn't go, tonight Billy Graham was presented with the George Bush Award for Public Service. In his remarks after receiving the award, he said "I'm glad to be at Texas A&M.....Home of the 12th Man. Today I feel like the 12th Man!" Whoops showered down. It was a great moment. That man is truly one of the greatest people to ever walk this Earth. It was an honor for him to mention our school in such a way.

I never heard anything about that, I wish I could have gone, he truly is a great person and probably the greatest "Champion for Christ" since the Apostle Paul.

he has had a hand in saving alot of souls, including the one of our president, which I am sure his father will be eternally grateful for

That's awesome that he said that. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to see one of his last crusades. I was already saved, but watching the effect he had on thousands of people who publicly changed their lives that day was amazing.

We always watched the Crusades when we were little.
The thing about Graham I most admire is that there has never been even the slightest suggestion of dishonesty or unethical behavior on his part in how he has run his ministry.

If you haven't read his (auto)biography, it's a long read but quite insightful and very interesting IMO.

I think he's talking about the Nixon tapes where Graham talks about Jews. I can't remember what he said though.

While I agree that Billy Graham is sincere and well-meaning, as long as he teaches that salvation comes from reciting a "sinner's prayer" and/or by "asking Jesus to be my personal savior" he is not serving God's purposes in spirit and in truth. These teachings are not found in the New Testament.

It is indeed Bible teaching, we must confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. But is it all the teaching on the matter of salvation? Billy Graham is great, but I bet he wishes that he could take back the comment he made to Katie Couric about Bill Clinton just being a big old charismatic guy who can't help himself when the girls throw themselves at him...
Was my reply on this thread seriously deleted? With all due respect moderators, that's absurd. You have guys with free reigns to post whatever they want about Mexicans on the politics board(including shooting them on sight) and I have yet to see one of those posts removed despite my many objections. While it is a neat story, what else did you expect the guy to do? Put his guns up? Flash the Hook' Em sign? He was on the A&M campus and I am sure one of his handlers mentioned the 12th man thing to him prior to the award ceremony.
The excitement is a little overdone.
