What is the meaning of life? How can I find purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction in life? Will I have the potential to accomplish something of lasting significance?

So many people have never stopped to consider what the meaning of life is. They look back years later and wonder why their relationships have fallen apart and why they feel so empty even though they may have achieved what they set out to accomplish.

One baseball player who made it to the baseball hall of fame was asked what he wished someone would have told him when he first started playing baseball. He replied, "I wish that someone would have told me that when you reach the top, there's nothing there."

Many goals reveal their emptiness only after years have been wasted in their pursuit.

Real meaning both now and in eternity is found in one's restoring the relationship with God that was lost at the time of Adam and Eve's fall into sin.

To know God, to love God, to serve God, and to be happy with him in the next life.

All of these questions suggest that to you, it’s all about you…

No, that is what most people believe. But it is much more than that . . .

Like knowing God, glorifying God, and enjoying Him forever!

That is the burning question that has plagued and does plague the philosphers today as well as all other thinking individuals.

Who AmI? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going?

There is only one Church who has the theology that contains the answers to all four question. They will make perfect sense and you can find out for yourself whether they are true or not. For the holy Ghost will bare witness of the truthfulness if it to you. You have to be willing to humble yourself enough to study and pray with a sincere desire to know if it is true. Millions & millions have put it to the test successfully. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stands alone in declaring that it has the answers to all four questions. It works.!!

Real meaning in life is not found merely in finding Jesus as Savior (as wonderful as that is). Rather, real meaning in life is found when one begins to follow Christ as His disciple, learning of Him, spending time with Him in His Word, the Bible, communing with Him in prayer, and in walking with Him in obedience to His commands.

If you are an unbeliever (or perhaps a new Believer) you are likely saying to yourself, "That doesn't sound very exciting or fulfilling to me!" But please read on just a little longer. Jesus made the following statements:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10b).

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it” (Matthew 16:24-25).

“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

What all of these verses are saying is that we have a choice. We can continue to seek to guide our own lives (with the result of living an empty life) or we can choose to pursue God and His will for our lives with a whole heart (which will result in having a life lived to the full, having the desires of your heart met, and finding contentment and satisfaction).

This is so because our Creator loves us and desires the best for us (not necessarily the easiest life, but the most fulfilling).

jmgag03 -Please explain what "enjoy him forever" means to you. Do you think you will be playing a harp for the eternities and shouting "hosannahs" to God and somehow this is going to "glorify him". Outside of the obvious distaste of an eternal "burning lake of fire" there does not seem to be much postive motivation for that kind of future existence.

The only thing we will take with us is our relationships. I view relationships especially with Jesus as the most important thing we are doing in this life.

The purpose of this life is to learn to live Happy.

"Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy".

This life is a great test given to the Sons and daughters of God, it is a proving ground where we learn to live by faith and Grow from Grace to Grace.

But most important in this growth is that we learn the most valuable lesson and that is how to be happy.

Men gain joy in this life only through obedience to Gospel laws.

When the Angel came to Mary to announce the Christ he said, "Behold I bring you good tidings of great Joy, which will be unto all people". Luke 2:10

The Adversary tries to trick us into thinking that Sin leads to happiness, but as Paul taught the Romans

Romans 14:17
quote:
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

So I say, the Purpose of this life is to learn to live happy.

Thats because every time I played the game I got hit by the ball.

I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that I am on an Aggie board talking religion.

I should be trying to convince you of your wicked ways and convince you to come over to the true University of Texas in Austin and become fans of the most high Longhorns

How is an eternal life spent with God and glorifying Him anything BUT positive motivation? He is GOD and I will love to revel in his Holiness for eternity. I find the words to the song "Imagine" by Mercy Me perfectly explain my feelings toward Worshipping God for eternity.

quote:
"I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side...
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing 'Hallelujah!'? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son!
I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

If you are a sports fan and decide to go to a professional game, you can fork over a few dollars and get a "nose-bleed" seat in the top rows of the stadium or you can cough up a few hundred dollars and be up close and personal to the action.

It is like that in the Christian life. Watching God work FIRSTHAND is not for the Sunday Christians. They haven't paid the price. Watching God work FIRSTHAND is for the whole-hearted disciple of Christ who has truly stopped pursuing his/her own desires in life so that he/she can be pursuing God's purposes in life.

THEY have paid the price (complete surrender to Christ and His will); they are experiencing life to its fullest; and they can face themselves, their fellow man, and their Maker with no regrets! Have you paid the price? Are you willing to? If so, you will not hunger after meaning or purpose again.
