It occured to me the other day that if you look at the countries and governments of the world their is a noticable difference in the treatment and prosperity of people in countries with a Christian based belief system as opposed to muslin, budism, atheist,or others.

In the countries that do not have Christianity as there basic belief system you have a greater incidence dictatorial governments, poverty, disease,and oppresion.

Some will say look at China they are a great society that is becoming a great power. What we are shown is that image. The people are still oppressed, many live in poverty, they do not have the ability to improve their staus in life.
The same can be said for most of the other countries in the far east. Russia is an example of a country that was powerful yet its people were oppressed. Look at it now.

Look at the middle east. With the oil resorces and weatlth they have, there is no excuse that so many of those people live the way they do.

Look at Africa and their corrupt governments disease, poverty, and starvation.

Now look to the USA and how as a country we have prospered for over 200 years. What is the basis for our government. Europe has been a Catholic based society and have been prosperous.

We can look at ourselves now and see evidence of decline and you can only determine that this is happening as we move away from God.

I ask then why is that so many who love and take the prosperity that we enjoy, feel the need to destroy the very foundation on which this society was built? Thats exactly what is being done every time something like prayer in school, the ten commandments, or under God is removed.

The only question that can be asked is why are we so blind to the sorce of our prosperity?

The think the kind of blindness that you are talking about it usually chosen.

You should read "How Should We Then Live" by Francis Shaeffer. It basically gives an overview of western civilization and the various worldviews of, starting with the Roman Empire and continuing through the 20th Century.

Well..christianity most certainly is not the basis of the US government. The founding fathers (many of which were not christians) set up a secular government.

What evidence of a decline? Does the abolishment of slavery and child labor and awarding women the right to vote constitute a moral decline in your mind?

How does Japan figure into this scenerio? It is a economically prosperous nation with a democratic form of government (constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament). Shinto & Buddhism are the primary religions of the nation with probably less than 1% being Christian.

The movement away from God that I speak of is the moral decay that is aided by the government and the judicial system.

In my mind the legal murder of unborned children is an example.

Do you think the rise of rape, homosexuality, child porography and other perversions is coincidence. It can all be connected back to the spread of pornography. But our courts have protected this as free speach.

Our court system has allowed prayer tyo be taken from our schools and slowly being eliminated from our government. As we turn or sites to ourselves and not a higher power we loose connection with the sorce of our properity.

As a people we have allowed the building block of any stable society to be erroded away. That stability is the family. This is a result of divorce, and divorce is a symptom of larger problems. We are currently in a fight to stop gay marriage and the adoption of children by gay couples. Why? because it is another action that will destabilize the family. Who will have a hand in this happening our goverment and the judicial system.

We are living in a time when everything is about being PC and tolerance. Do I believe that we should be able to discriminate against a person for a disability, gender, or the color of their skin? No. But I should have the right to stand up and say I believe a behavior is wrong without it being labled as intolerant or discrimination. My ability to stand up for what I believe is wrong,is being squelched by who? Our court and government.

So George Washington may have not intended for our government to be Christian. Many of the founding fathers may have not been Christian. They may have even intended for our government to be secular, but only as a means not to force any one beliefe system on the people.

I dont think that they intended our government to support immorality, and they did recognize a higher power and the benefits of that belief system.

This is the decline I am speaking of

No the right for women to vote, child labor, and abolishing slavery is not even on my radar.

Do you just make this stuff up? Do you have any evidence at all that rape, homosexuality and the sexual abuse of children are on the increase? These things have been around since the dawn of time.

There is no law that prevents anyone from praying in school.

Whee have you been. Madelin Murray O'hare started the movement to remove prayer from schoolsin the 60'sand 70.s. Within the last five to ten years the supreme court ruled that there should be no prayer in schools because it violated the separation of church and state. This case came to them from a case that originated in Sante Fe,TX.
What baffels me is what difference does it make who the prayer comes from or what their religion or denomination is. It s all the same God. As for atheists what difference does it make they dont believe in God anyway so it means nothing to them anyway.

As for porn it doesn,t take a genious to see the effects it has on our society. It affects how men treat women. They see them only as sexual objects. It distorts how we think sex should be and our behavoirs. It encourages deviancy and perversion by presenting it as normal.
I was listening to a show the other day that was talking about porn and the fact that it is an 80 billion dollar a year business in theis country. It spoke to how it consunes its viewers, they become addicted to it just like any other drug or item that replaces God as the number one item in your life.

Again will say that this decline is all aided and abeted by our government abd courts.

It is not Christianity, but Democracy.

I addition to the above. In regurds to porn if it were acceptable and not a perversion the magazines would not have plastic covers on them , the mags wouldnt be hid in the back of a closet or others place. They would be displayed on the coffee table nest to Better Homes and Gardens, and it would be free acces on the internet.

Did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of Spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.

Lets just forget about Mexico, Latin America, and all of South America.
