Looks like Daniel didn't get the protestant concern about repetitive prayer...

yah, Babylon Bee made a great worship song generator. Of note is how often you repeat a certain line.

A common Protestant objection to the Hail Mary is that it's repetitive. Not accusing anyone here of that, just something I've seen before

I get that, but there is a big difference between repetition to create worship and repetition that leads to something becoming empty. It is in our nature to do something over and over again until it does lose value. I also will submit that there Bible contains probably all the prayers we could ever need. Nothing new under the sun.

Oh man, modern worship. I am sure it is a footnote in the dictionary where repetition is defined.

At least in low church Protestantism, it was my experience that many didn't like repetitive prayers or memorized prayers. Or the sign of the Cross.

I know, my "question" was affirming value with some repetition while also pointing the finger at some of my protestant brothers and sisters.

No, one of their sola scripture nonsensical interpretations.

Matthew 6:7

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words." (NKJV)

The original Greek term is .

Which in English is quickly translated as vain repetitions.

The Greek word is more accurately translated as mumbling, stammering or carrying on without meaning.
(That's my definition. I'm sure the actual definition is better)

I grew up Protestant and I heard this preached on more than one occasion.

Howdy, it is me!

Oh, so you mean like Pentecostals speaking in tongues.

I don't mean anything. I was answering the question about where it comes from.

Most protestants use the ESV which doesn't translate it as repetitions. It says "heap up empty phrases"

Look at Daniel chapter 3 in a non-Catholic Bible as ask, why isn't this passage in their Bible? Let us know what you find.
