Im starting a Bible study in Timothy, and the kids im working with don't read, but listen to podcasts all day. Anyone have recommendations for book focused commentaries that play on your phone? Ok if its just audio or a talking head.

I will supplement with written commentaries, but don't want to ask kids to actually read a book.

Helpful pointers to audio commentaries appreciated. Griping about how no one reads anymore is off topic, please.

Make them read the book.

Otherwise it's a perspective colored by another persons interpretation etc… & they aren't thinking for themselves.

Have them write or produce their own podcast script or something.

The Whole Counsel of God has done a great nearly 10 part podcast on 1st and 2nd Timothy. This is the best podcast for understanding what is going on chapter by chapter in the Bible. The priest is a former protestant pastor and now an orthodox priest and is very well respected in Orthodox content circles. You're going to get way more context, understanding out of his walkthroughs than a podcast that is outside of Orthodoxy. He spends a lot of time walking through what the early church believed and did and what is contextually animating these letters. Also if a letter is specifically addressing some cultural struggle going on in the background (and they generally are), he'll be sure to explain it fully.

If there is a passage that is the source of a large contention between the major denominations, he will stop and go through the various opinions academically. He's generally very polite about these things, except if you are calvinist. He'll eventually lower the boom on calvinism if he's going through a thicket of verses that calvinist like to point to. I don't think there is much of that in these episodes though.
