I have to give huge a 10/10 rating to St Bart's in Katy. We do not attend SSPX mass when we have Catholic family visiting so as not to make anyone uncomfortable so we attended St Bart's 11 am mass.

It was the most reverent Novus ordo Mass I have ever attended. There were no altar girls in use, the priest gave an excellent concise homily on the readings and the gospel, and tied in the importance of Mary always pointing to Jesus as our guide for the new year.

The responses were chanted, the organ was the only musical accompaniment, half of the females were veiled, and communion kneeling was welcomed, reception on the tongue encouraged and receiving in the hand subtly and tastefully discouraged. There were only Eucharistic ministers sent to the narthex, the rest of the laity were communicated by the two priests in attendance (one visiting) and the Deacon.

The community itself was vibrant, while there were some seniors in attendance, the average age was much younger than I have seen elsewhere with large families, and husbands in suits or sports coats.

Is there anyone on the board who attends Mass here? How did this come about?

I'm a parishioner there.

The masses there run the gamut. The 9am Sunday is always like you describe.

In short, there are quite a few parishioners there that care, and are willing to donate their (and their families') time, talent, and treasure to make good liturgy happen.
