Artifacts from a Byzantine era church in the Holy Land dedicated to Peter and Andrew.

Seems to pretty clearly recognize Peter's primacy. Particularly notable that it's found in a Byzantine setting as well

I know we're not going to agree so that's fine. But here is what the Church actually said.

The keys were given specifically to Saint Peter, as seen in Matthew 16:19: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven." This signifies the authority to bind and loose, a foundational aspect of the papal office. The Fourth Lateran Council (1215) did not address the distribution of the keys to all apostles but emphasized the Church's authority and the necessity of penance for the remission of sins. The power of the keys is exercised through the Church, particularly in the sacraments, as seen in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 553). The council reinforced the Church's role in guiding the faithful through its teachings and sacraments.

Are the keys really a requirement if ccc 1399 says the EO has "true sacrements", implied to this day?

From your perspective, how can Christ be present in a true Eucharist without Peter?

The Church teaches that the Orthodox have valid bishops because they have valid apostolic succession and therefore valid sacraments. The fact that the Orthodox are no longer in communion with the Bishop of Rome does not vitiate the validity of that apostolic succession.

Two bickering brothers….

And the Father would probably say, less talking, more working

Your oldest brother (Jesus) showed you what to do

And now you both spend more time arguing than doing my will

You are both immature and lack full understanding

Follow your oldest brother's example for now, the rest you will understand with time

(And be patient with your Protestant cousins from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma….they touch the holy land, but aren't in it yet)

He is my brother and I do not intend bickering. Sorry if that's how it comes across.

Nah…was just a friendly jab

I'm a former Baptist…who (eventually) converted to Catholicism…and still would like to celebrate Mass like an Orthodox

Papacy….Filioque…

None of us will know until it really matters (if it does at all)

It's all just wasted breath, IMO

Do the work of Jesus

(I'm terrible at doing that consistently, BTW)

But the Protestants do this as well as any of us, IMO

I didn't watch the whole video but Jesus giving Peter the keys to open up the Kingdom was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when Peter filled with the Holy Spirit proclaimed the first Gospel sermon and offered the entry requirements in Acts 2:38. The door was opened.

I do not take it as bickering and I appreciate the spirit with which you put forth and support your faith!

Unfortunately, I can no longer push the topic on my end, but again, thank you.
