I haven't watched the video, but anyone wanting to learn more about exorcisms should check out The Exorcist Files podcast on spotify.

The podcast goes through old files of an exorcist priest. Theres good creepy stories but there is also Q&A with the priest. It was really surprised by what I learned. I thought there would be a lot of 'scared straight' tactics but it was just the opposite.

Advice from the priest in a nutshell:
* avoid things that let demons get their hooks in
* don't obsess about evil or demons
* live a good life and you you'll be ok

Honestly, I believe that this whole sphere is ripe with, and a perfect place for, charlatans and confidence men. That said, a friend got me into a pretty deep study about this a few months ago, and, I do believe that American's de-emphasize this aspect of spirituality based on what I have read and personally experienced.

If you want to get deep into this topic, I would suggest some stuff from Michael Heiser, who goes pretty deep into the biblical basis of demonic influences, and the differences in what we read in the OT vs NT about spiritual warfare. It was really enlightening, but it opens up a whole new can of worms.

You get into this very far, and you are going to run into people that see demon possession EVERYWHERE. I'm not sure I agree with all that, but I do thing that Enlightenment / Western society has de-emphasized it.

Inconsistency here?

I do agree with avoiding things that will let demons get their hooks in. But, for most Americans, these things are just perpetual sin cycles like lust, addiction, greed, envy, etc.

Exactly. That's what the priest kept reminding people of - live a good life, avoid sin, and you'll be ok.

Kind of like the law of attraction or maybe a race car driver. Don't look at the wall. The wall is there, but you wanna focus on the road.

This episode recently dropped. It's one of those interviews where 3 hours seems to pass in 30 minutes.

Shawn Ryan asked the priest some tough questions as he (Ryan) was raised Catholic but left the church and the Christian faith. Ryan had a religious experience that brought him back to Christianity as a nondenominational. The priest then recounted his life. Also raised Catholic but left the church when he was abused by a priest when he was in middle school. He eventually found healing and forgiveness and returned not just as Christian but as a Catholic priest. Can't recommend this enough to anyone concerned about the spiritual warfare going on around us all the time.

Here is a different type of exorcism - using food to eat your demon away.

True in most cases, but Fr. Martins has cases on his show that deal with generational curses, where you are the victim of a curse from your great grandfather....
