It's like a Catholic Woodstock... some estimates are that 1 million are expected over the ~~month~~ in Lisbon, Portugal. Young folks coming out to see Pope Francis, should be exciting!

ETA: Its more like a week long event. There were an estimated 1.5 million at the mass on Sunday, Aug. 6th.

Isn't this country like 80% Catholic? I'd say most are going, at least in part, to see Pope Francis.

An estimated 1.5 million people attended mass on Sunday. World Youth Day '23 has wrapped up. Pope Francis indicated that during 2025 in Rome a Jubilee will be celebrated for the youth. Also, that the next World Youth Day will take place in South Korea in 2027.

Around the 1:17:00 mark, the Pope gives a homily reflecting on the Transfiguration of Jesus.
