"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27


One reality that nobody could escape is death. The Bible says we are all appointed to die once and after that the judgment. There comes a time when Christians and non-Christians alike will give an account to God on how they lived.

To die once is a general rule for all mankind. There have been very rare exceptions. For instance, Lazarus died twice (John 11:43-44). Those, like Lazarus, who was raised from the dead by a miraculous act, died a second time.

Another exception will be those who don't die even once, but who will be caught up at the Rapture (1Thessalonians 4:17). Then there's Enoch (Genesis 5:24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11) who did not die but were taken up alive.
The word judgment is a general term encompassing the judgment of all people; believers and unbelievers. Those who are in Christ will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10). Unbelievers, on the other hand, will face God at the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11-15).

So bottom line, biblically speaking, this is no reincarnation.

So we are back to doctrine and tradition. It has been already pointed out how this does and has evolved over time as the church continues the mission of proclaiming Jesus to the world.

What happens to our souls after death should be a focus. I believe the church has "put into the deep" as far as what happens to the souls of Christian's who don't believe in reincarnation.

Now we are at another point in time regarding those who do believe in it. From some perspectives, it would seem that some are clinging to the scriptural definition of the afterlife for a basis of understanding when it is so clear to others that has no connection. This is what is obvious to many young people today- that the church is out of touch.

How many still believe that reincarnation is not possible or possible. What if, as we are now learning, people really are born again on this earth? What if it is true that some people are indeed reincarnated and greatly desire to love and be loved by God? What if it is true that they greatly desire to stand before God and the Church and proclaim this?

It's on the table, let's see what comes of it by minds guided by the Holy Spirit.
