Very long article. I haven't finished it yet, but thus far it looks good.

Enjoy (if you take the time ).

Yet, as many writers on the subject have noted, nowhere does scripture say these things;

Really?

Romans 3:25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

I think this guy wrote a pretty good article, at least the parts I read...

I didn't read it all (didn't have the time) but there is some good stuff regarding union w/Christ, which by the way is a reformed doctine.

quote:
The best way of developing what I will call the Incarnational theory, I believe, is by starting with Paul's model of the Atonement as found in Romans chapter 6, Galatians 2:22, Galatians 3:27, 2 Cor. 5:14, and other biblical passages. In these passages, Paul hints at a theory of the Atonement based on participation or unity with Christ, but doesn't go into much detail. Although Paul tells us something about how Atonement works in these verses--it is through unity with Christ's death that we are united with Christ in his Resurrection (see, for example, Romans 6:5)--he does not tell us why unity with Christ's death is necessary.

Actually dear, I would say it’s more of a “biblical” doctrine. There is no need to put a just a crucifixion at the center, or a doctrine of union with Christ at the center, but the scriptures teach them both (with no emphasis on one over the other), and then some. We need not simply have glimpses of truth here and there. When ones doctrine is based on the Word of God one can as Paul says have the “whole council of God”. Not just a pet doctrine here and there, although men do have a tendency to become myopic that way.

YYZ,

The article is mostly for the edification of others. I find debating with you to be somewhat futile towards productive discourse, so I'm not game for a debate. No offense intended.

forgot to mention: The biblical passages mentioned above are dealt with further along in the article.

I prefer that my "dp" be Dr. Pepper, the national drink of Texas. Or, maybe I'm just subconciously trying to increase the number of my posts to catch up with some of the real sprinters around here!

WHOOO2P!!,

What do you mean, "very long article"? It's barely longer than one of my typical posts!

Sheesh! (In the original Aramaic it was "hseehS"!)

Eh, I was disappoited with parts myself (parts at the end specifically). But I found it challenging and unique, so I shared.

70mAgE2,

Interesting. Tell me something: where do you live exactly?

edit: I should be more subtle on my plans for destruction.

edit2: Doh.

70m,

I've always been somewhat of a rebel.

Poor YYZ, I am a trial for him, but I'll try to be good from now on.
