Since this is a Friday for most, I figured I'd go ahead and share this today.
quote:
So, all religious conservatives believe in the prosperity gospel? All fiscal conservatives believe in the prosperity gospel?
Take it to the politics board.
quote:It's just a joke.

quote:
Well, it's clear that people around here definitely needed an early "lighten up".
quote:Really? Can you elaborate as to why? It just seems backwards to me, but maybe I'm just not understanding your point.
I get more defensive about bad economics arguments than I do about Christianity

Hits a little too close for some. Thought it was funny.
quote:Goodness. IT WAS A JOKE!!! I'm not saying that anyone here believes this, or this applies to anyone here. A friend shared it with me this morning and I thought it was funny. The subject starts with 'Lighten Up' for a reason. But yes, a thread that is obviously meant as a joke is the same as intentionally lying about or misrepresenting a person's position during an actual discussion.
It doesn't hit close for anyone. It should be called straw man Jesus and posted on the politics board. For a guy who whines about people intentionally misrepresenting his arguments it's once again a nice exposition of his hypocrisy and how he's more passive aggressive than pacifist.

Religion is in the end more a of metaphysical discussion, and there are no concrete answers.
As for economics, I find most arguments for greater government control of the economy to be intellectually dishonest, and propagated by those with an agenda.
The combination of supply side economics and the gospel of prosperity above is an intentional mixing of two different topics with the goal of disparaging both religion and certain economic arguments.
In my mind, it is in the same realm of portraying all weed smokers as communist hippie vegans.
quote:
You're kind of naive and not very bright Woody.
Just joking.

Take it to the politics board.
quote:Agree.
I thought we talked about this. People want jokes, not political satire.
This was funny for the first few panels but it just kept going on and on...

See... Throw the "just joking", or "lighten up" into the substance of a post and people shouldn't get their panties in a wad. As always, you've added a very useful and thought-provoking contribution to the thread.

quote:I'd say it's comedy zinc at best.
Comedy gold? No. Comedy tin maybe.
