Not exactly related to the OP, but what I saw in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea was something I'll never forget; gaunt faces of people who are truly willing to do anything to prolong the lives of their families, but are completely destitute and unable to alter their situation due to circumstances well beyond their control such as a government dictatorship and military with rifles. When you see true poverty; poverty literally leading to starvation unto death, it makes it hard to be sympathetic to people in this country claiming to be "in need".
