Shelby church to fly Christian flag over American flag

Interesting. The comment section seems about 50/50 on it. Our church doesn't have either flag, so this isn't an issue we've had to deal with. I do recall Brian Zahnd write, or tweet, something a few weeks ago (or it may have been in Farewell to Mars) about how if someone is going to fly both flags, he doesn't understand why a Christian would want to put anything above the Christian flag.

I only have seen the Christian flag at baptist churches. I am sure others use it, but that's been the only place I've ever seen it. I saw one comment that said "oh, I always thought that was the baptist flag. I had no idea it was a Christian flag."

at my Christian school as a child, we had it. we also had a pledge to it, the American flag, and the bible!

We did these, but only in the summer at Vacation Bible School. Because if there's one things kids love spending their summer doing, it's pledges.

When we went to fundie baptist school, we had to write an assigned chapter of the Bible from memory every Wednesday. One day, my brother used the NIV version. He was given a 0 and sent to the principles office.

The only acceptable symbol that is found in the bible is communion bread and wine. Everything else is idolatry.

Admittedly I amnot completely sure of this. God has given us a direct line to him without need for intermediaries. The bible never endorses sculptures or art depicting God or Jesus. I don't see it being any different than idolatry. What symbol can we possibly make that does God or Jesus justice?

I honestly can't think of something less important to an omnipotent being.
